Random thoughts III

My husband and I always picked out girls' names too but never needed them. Our basic approach was if we wouldn't go to a doctor with that name, we shouldn't name a child that.

My big problem with some of the messed up baby names now, is how are those kids going to feel about them when they are adults.

I just can't picture an adult lawyer or politician named Jagger.

I don't mind the different names as much for girls, but for boys it just seems off. And the using of gender neutralish names on boys. Like Teagan.

My main rule is that once it becomes a girls name, it can no longer be used as a boys name. Not for my boys.

and by that same token, I wish people would stop stealing boy names for girls. I'm looking at you Ryan whatshisface and Blake Lively (though her name is a boy's name too I just realized) naming your daughter James.

I like that for a boy! Let it stay a boy name!

GTO, what are you going for? What is big brother's name if you wish to share with us creepers? Or did you say Leo? cause I was thinking you should name your baby Leo. That seems vaguely Greek and Spanish.

I had a beloved great uncle named Leo and like the name. However, it now reminds me of Roger Federer's twin boys. Don't we all see Leo Federer as being a stud and poor Lenny Federer being bullied?

My son's name is Benjamin Isaiah. Ben for short.

Cool people name their son Leo.

When picking names you have to think of ANY possible way to make fun of that name. 3rd graders are really creative.

Also, you gotta think of nicknames you like and don't like for that name.

Sam brought up Edison as a boy name. I like the full name, but that kid is destined to be nicknamed Eddy, which I don't like much.

(No offense to any of you Eddys out there.)

My son Caleb was going to be Luke until about a month before he was born.

Last night was my first night shift. 6 pm to 6 am. I usually work 6 am to 6 pm. Friday and Saturday I worked my normal shift and then had no time to readjust for nights before working last night. I woke up this morning after less than four hours of sleep so today's gonna be rough. I have today and tomorrow off before working nights again on Wednesday and Thursday.

For Eli you can also go with the longer, Elias and use Eli as a nickname.

I'll never use it because my ex-wife named her new baby Elias, but it doesn't make it a bad name.

Sounds a bit Southern, if you're ok with that.
