I have had bad tendency lately to not completely get the door to the garage closed. It closes far enough to be owed but not latched. As I have mentioned before we have a security system. One time I did this and the cat decides he wanted to explore the garage and opened the door rest of the way. Yeah that got the heart pumping.

Take a credit card for emergencies and let the company know you will be traveling out of the country (you said Punta Cana, right?). Put a copy of your passport somewhere else.

Had a two people at our company get their car broken into in a very safe country and all their docs stolen last year. It was a PITA to get back home - and they were supposed to travel on to another country. That didn't happen!
No Panama City Beach, Florida. But yikes that would stink

oh then probably ok on the passport thing. I would still take a credit card for anything unexpected. That doesn't mean use it and run up a bill, but a safer option compared to a debit card.

Until they have daughters or nieces who love Disney princesses and playing dress-up. :)

Which, by the way, was the first thing I thought of when I read CG's post. And I had no clue what the cotton candy reference was.

I DO find it interesting finding out how many of you guys apparently have in-depth knowledge of these places. :)

It doesn't take in depth knowledge of the cotton candy thing. One table dance will tell you all you need to know.

Plus, I'm not ashamed at all to admit I frequented those places in my 20s.

Didn't they just come out with a law proposal saying an employer can't not hire you for the sole reason of what you did on social media in college and high school?

That law would be dumb. I could see a sunset on what you did on social media having a bearing on your job but why isn't what some dumb **** didn't have the brains to keep off their social media 6 months ago a reflection on their decision making skills right after they graduate from college?

I hope not, I'm planning on that helping me land a job!

I get the logic behind it, but if a company wants that to be a criteria, and you were dumb enough to put that stuff online in the first place, I don't think you should get a pass.

This really gets to be a problem when you are tagged by your friends in pictures. You might be stone cold sober, and sitting on a couch chatting, but the camera also captures a picture through the screen door over your shoulder, of the guys on the deck, passing a joint around.

Lock your profiles down, don't sext or tweet drunk pics of yourself, and delete dubious tagged pics from friends wherever you can. Even then, though...once it's on the net, it's forever.

That's why no one will ever be prosecuted/fined/sued for it unless they are really dumb. Employers will use social media to vet their candidates, and the decision not to hire will be listed as something other than 'well, he was a doosher on twitter', but something related to fit for the position, or qualification mis-match.

I told my kids that that's how Facebook and other social media companies really makes their money. Not by selling ads, but by providing profile data to prospective employers.

Didn't even bother me that it wasn't true. I'm doing them a favor.
