No one has talked about Super Bowl food yet. I just received an email for 30% off of pizza, but what if I want something healthier?

What do you guys eat?

Takes some preparation ahead of time, but a good recipe for buffalo wings that isn't deep fried:

(admittedly, the sauce is the traditional half butter/half hot sauce...I'm not so worried about 'healthy', but I like the oven recipe because I don't have a deep fryer, and hate the mess of trying to deep fry on the stove)

I will likely eat something terrible for me and wash it down with something that's worse for me.

We have about zero interest in the actual game, but hubby will still probably watch. The girls will happily watch the Puppy Bowl. I just bought cilantro for something I am making tonight, so will probably make homemade salsa which isn't bad in calories/fat--just have to watch how many chips you mindlessly eat. Not sure what else we'll have.

Cowgirl--making a new crockpot recipe tonight, pork carnitas. You put a dry rub on a pork roast, cook, then shred. Can't remember if you made something like that or not. Not a crockpot recipe but made a bacon wrapped chicken recipe earlier this week that everyone liked. It is on my recipes board on Pinterest. :)

I shall go check this out....

Sunday night is frozen pizza night for us, that is what we shall consume. Nothing extra or fancy because we don't care about the game. DH will probably want to flip to it now and then.

So, this is what greeted me when I left work last night. Click to enlarge the image and look at the two trees in the middle. There have been times when there were 10x this many...you feel like you're in a Hitchcock movie. Noisy beggars, too...

Things were simpler wayback. A boy would come home from church and find the burr oak in the yard filled to Hitchcock-like levels of grackles. Boy would get fathers vintage Mossberg .22 and shoot grackles. The trusted family tom cat, Patches (aka The Beast of the East), would retrieve them. Routine Sunday in NE Iowa.

I think it was in here that people were talking about commercial girls they have a fascination with. Since it just came on, I think this girl is very, very pretty:

*edit: Disclaimer for those at work...link is a video, but every screen grab I found wasn't a very good picture.

I was just reading the Gilbert bball scores (it was mentioned that Fred would be there watching last night instead of doing the radio show). The boys won, Jack scored 21. The girls won 46-9. The other team scored 9 points in the entire game. Paige had 23.

In another thread someone pooh-poohed the idea when I asked if there was any chance Paige plays for Bill. I guess I will ask opinions of those who have seen her play; any chance Paige even walks on for the Cyclones?

EDIT: Dumb question. With 15 schollies available and the ability to use men practice players they don't have walk ons.

Wouldn't surprise me if jack walked on.

PapaLew likes to say crows only land our our property twice: once in a tree, and once on the ground. ;)

Check out Cooler's signature. I'd say if she's good enough, it won't be because she didn't want to. :)

Side note:

Can you imagine the games of HORSE at that house? Give the twins a couple more years to catch up a bit in maturity and that would be a death match!

Any chance you could PM me a link or the recipe? We're always looking for pork & chicken recipes. TIA!

Will do!

The weekend of the Kansas game when Holly Rowe was following Carol around, they were at a girls' game where Paige hit clutch free throw. That same weekend the twins had a AAU tourney where one of them hit clutch free throws. I think it is safe to say they get that from their dad. ;) If they are still here when the twins are in HS (count me as one of the optimists who thinks Fred will be our coach for awhile) I have a feeling the Gilbert boys will be state contenders. Their AAU team has 4 Gilbert boys, including the son of the current Gilbert boys' head coach (who played college ball at Iowa.) They are in 6th grade now.

This years Budweiser commercial. Dang I'm such an emotional sap.
