KC, how do you organize your embroidery threads? I've seen the bobbin method (don't want to do that) and then stuff with bags or toolboxes.

I use numbered plastic palletes or boards (see below) for current projects. There are a couple of "designer" palletes on the linked page like this butterfly; the one I have looks just like one an artist would use, but with 16 holes around the outside edge. Each project usually has the colors numbered, so the thread goes in the appropriate number. The board I showed here has enough numbers for a large variety of colors, but the holes are pretty small for the type of thread I use (3-ply wool). I buy the threads as I go, just enough for what I need, so I usually don't have a lot of leftover yarn. Herrschners is my go-to source. They have dang near every accessory you would ever want, and a huge variety of threads & projects.

ok, a paper version of that board is what comes with my kits. I tend to rip them all apart and the threads decide to get all tangled though so I'm trying to do something new. I think I like the idea of just keeping stuff in little baggies since I always have little scraps and then putting them in some type of storage box or big bag for on the go. Especially since I want to do some larger projects that will have many different colors. That is a great website - I hadn't see this one before!

The baggies & cabinets are great for storage, but those pallettes/boards can't be beat for convenience (or transport...if you take your needlework with you on trips).

That would be way more clever with this quote:

I guess I don't get it, Die4Cy. Does Bane interact with a Clarice? Both Hannibal Lector and Rudolph do so that is what makes the original pic and quote clever. That is supposed to be a Hannibal Lector mask, not a Bane mask.

I was making allusions to Hannibal Lector and Clarice to Mrs. Velo during Rudolph the other night. For some strange reason it went right over the kids heads.

Scary times! I'm glad she's okay.

Was your mom at Story County or Mary Greeley? If it was SC, your nurse may be our neighbor, one of six acreages on a private lane. Five families are all Cyclone (complete with Cyclone yard decor); the fifth family we call our token Hawkeyes...and the wife is an ER nurse at SC.

The family makes all kinds of cookie & candy treats every Christmas and brings collections of them to each of the rest of us, so I can't "hate" her too much. We even gave them some random Hawkeye tulip bulbs that showed up in our yard (yellow with black centers). :)

Story county in Nevada.

6 days till Christmas and no snow :sad:

if it snows, and signifanctly more in N Iowa like they forecasted last night, I will be ticked off. I get wanting a white Christmas, but when you have to travel 4 hrs with a van full of kids, snow is not fun. In the 20 years hubby and I have been together we have had more horrible holiday drives than not. Some of them we were lucky to get home in one piece. Of course the one day we want to travel is the day they are calling for snow. :realmad:

I'm banned from Snapchat... because I use a Windows Phone. They don't have an official app for Windows so they ban everyone that doesn't use their official app.

******* ********. I didn't realize how mad I would be.

We have traveled through a lot of bad weather over the years as well. It can certainly get hairy.

Maybe a solution is a snowmobile pulling a dog sled packed with kids.

You have to travel to northern Iowa? I'm sorry...

At least I feel safe with my hubby behind the wheel. (Sorry, cowgirl!) ;) Right now we will hope that the weather forecasters are wrong like usual. Ha! :biglaugh: Just kidding. Kind of.

Through northern Iowa. Although I know where you are from and I grew up close. We are going to the IL's near Sioux Falls so head up 35 and over on 90. Or as we like to call it, winter hell road.

90. Oh, so sorry about that. Your characterization couldn't be more appropriate. I don't understand how it gets so much worse than many of the other roads even further north.

haha, normally I sleep while he's driving :)

Sunday night and Monday we will know a lot more about this system.

That being said we have already started discussing alternate travel options other than driving through the night on Tuesday.
