UPS drivers want you to meet them halfway so they don't have to walk as far and can get their deliveries done faster and they back into your driveway if they are on a narrow road.

Welp - we've been contractor free for mostly a year. We are about to be inundated again this summer. Hail damage means all of the roof (shop, gazebo, house + addition, and little shed) will be replaced, also all gutters & down spouts. Also, the screen around the gazebo will be replaced as well.
We're also having a crew come in & paint the interior (most of the rooms). And then I decided that wasn't enough, so I'm having a landscaper come out and quote a price for removing the overgrown, woody, no longer flowering lilac hedge and planting a fast growing hedge, like a boxwood or something. At least the first part is covered by our insurance.

No call you called out a d*ckhead move in a as kind of possible way. He is just used to doing whatever the hell he wants and getting away with it. A couple of tickets would break him of that habit.

She likes to take a ton of things along. In this case, it was a bag filled with different fidgets, which are really flexible. That was bending her lesson book a bit, and she couldn't close it.
So I used my extreme packing skills, turned flexible fidgets into a solid wall that held up the bag, kept the book straight, and allowed the bag to close.
I'm some sort of hero.
Managed to temporarily overwhelm Sloth again today and got in a 27 mile bike ride. Little windy but low dew point so pretty comfy. DND.
Going to try and get out tomorrow morning to check out Pileated Woodpecker nest cavity before heading to workout. Sloth ain't going to like that. Setting alarm. He will probably turn it off.

How patient are you? You could just cut the lilacs off at the ground and let the shoots fill back in. I will admit I don't know how desireable lilac is to deer and rodents. I have never had a problem with the shoots - especially the ones I don't want - getting eaten. Mrs. Velo won't let me rip the bandaid off so I am doing the cut off one third every year (spring) and let the shoots take over. Except for this year, she wouldn't let me cut any because of the grad party in our back yard. So next year do I cut the second third or do I 'accidentally' cut the rest since it is year 3 afterall?

We tried that over a couple of years, but the hedge is around 50 years old (original owners planted it, back in the late 70s). We started trying to thin it way too late in its life. It barely flowers any more, and most of the greening is up top (it's about 8 ft tall). It doesn't provide the privacy we would prefer in the winter. I'm sure the shoots would grow, but we transplanted a TON of shoots to the side yard about 10 years ago, and they are only just now starting to form a privacy hedge from that neighbor.
I want something that is evergreen. I'm willing to wait a few years for it to grow, if it stays full & green in the winter. Ain't gonna be yew, though - I'm allergic.

Side note - I've been sleeping so much more deeply now that I'm using a CPAP that I'm back to my youthful sleep patterns of 5-7 hours per night, Even though I'm sleeping less, I'm more rested. Anyone thinking of pulling the trigger on a CPAP should really consider it. I should have started using one five or six years ago.
I got one a couple of years back and it was life changing. It also help diagnose a deviated septum I had and now that my deviated septum is fixed along with the CPAP, I have incredible nights of sleep.Old people issues.
