Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

I want to get my CDL and do OTR for a while. It's something completely different and a little easier on my body. I liked the carpentry work I was doing, and I wouldn't mind doing that full time, but not right now.

I'd stay through the summer and maybe into fall if I had no other choice. I'd definitely help with big jobs in my free time. My boss liked having me around but did say once that he wanted to see me move on at some point and be successful.
Be a UPS driver, really shake things up.

You should just always use a RBF so they never have a clue what you're thinking.

My husband has one. Friends will ask "Is Mr RLD upset?" I look over at him to see, "Nope, he's having a good time and enjoying himself!" I finally bought him three t-shirts:
"I'm not angry, this is my Scottish face"
"This is my happy face"
"Dutton Train Station Tours"

We knew our son's GF would fit right in when, the first weekend we met her, my husband mentioned to her that he enjoyed the weekend and getting to know her, hoped she also enjoyed it; then explained he knows that sometimes he can be a little intimidating, but he's trying to smile more and hoped he didn't come off that way with her. She just laughed and said, "Well....I did notice you have a very impressive RBF!" Yep...she captured his heart!
I typically do but when those on the meeting start bringing up stuff outside the scope of the meeting or other things that are a waste of my time, it's hard to hide the disapproving smirks/eyerolls/sighs

1st concert I ever went to REO Speedwagon at the UNIDome, never did meet up with my UNI friend that I was supposed to. pre cell phone he get drunk and never made it to where he was supposed to. Luckily had my ticket so just stayed with the ISU group I went with.
My first concert was also REO but at Hilton when I was about 15. I think I was the youngest person at the concert. Recently, I saw REO for free at a casino. Once again, I was the youngest person at the concert.

I imagine that was enlightening.
It was incredible the personal details that were laid out in a public forum. The employees weighed in and the guy who the wife was having an affair with weighed in. They both threatened lawsuits and then the whole thread went away. Honestly, I felt dirty reading it but I just couldn't stop myself.

OTR is a great profession right now. If you have any desire to be a machine tech for machines that generally print on fabric, we are always looking for them.

Nope. It's the Guess Who.
Now I am wondering who I spoke to at the reception who were going to see REO and where that was.

I swear I spoke to people non-stop rapid fire from about quarter to 5 (reception started at 5) until about 11 (reception 'ended' at 8). At about 7:45 I told someone that I wasn't trying to be rude, but I had to get something to eat. The quarter of a sub sandwich I had for lunch just wasn't cutting it.

I was amazed at the number of people who showed up. Many surprised me because we sent them courtesy invites never expecting them to bother to come.

Didn't run out of food, definitely didn't run out of drinks, and we didn't get rained on so it was a success.

EDIT: Just looked at the REO tour schedule. They must have been going to see them in Prior Lake, but I still don't know who said it.

My first at Hilton was GNR opening for Aerosmith.
I worked that concert. Got to go on the GNR bus. Can’t recall how many cases of empty bottles we carried off. Highlight was this gal kept yelling “Axl! Axl!”. She was like almost right in his face. He brought his arm up with hand open and puts it over her face and just shoved her backwards. It was pretty damn funny at the time.

I remember they opened for Aerosmith. First time I’ve seen people jump off the balcony to the concourse just to try and get closer to the stage. Pretty wild show!!

Stuck in an hour meeting this morning that's a quarterly update from one of our partners. Essentially its an hour of excuses of why stuff isn't done yet. I'm having a hard time hiding my facial expressions of disgust on Zoom.
Crraaaaaap. You just reminded we have a quarterly Zoom meeting on Monday. No cameras for us peons, luckily. But a 2.5 - 3 hour long meeting while you're trying to finish stuff up for quarter end.

geh.

2.5-3 hours?!
I think it was the end of March(?) where the meeting started at 8a and didn't end until 11:30 or so. That might have been the one where it was like "Hey, here's Jim to talk about our improvements in distribution..." and Jim needed to tell us allllllll the things about distribution in our company.
