Similar to raccoons.

Pretty intelligent animal but can't figure out the danger of those bright fast moving lights.
Had a friend in college that we had to pull off Lincoln way before getting hit by a car going to a movie. When we got him on the sidewalk, he said he now understood why deer just stand there. Said the headlights of the car kinda mesmorized him.

Had a extra tkt for the men's game tonite, gave it to my aunt. Got a plate of homemade fudge in return. Even with the Cyclone victory I think I came out ahead. Nom, Nom, Nom.

By golly they stuck it out and got the W, when they could have easily folded. The aunt hadn't been to a game for a few yrs a so she was happy to get to go again. It was a nice night spent with extended family.

On a lark (while finishing HR paperwork), I logged into Blackboard for my spring courses at Drake.
I'm kinda shocked. I use Blackboard at DMACC, and figured I could slack off on new LMS learning and adjustments. Drake's Blackboard Ultra looks nothing like DMACC's Blackboard Ultra. It appears I'll have to burn time figuring out another version when I truly wanted just to slack off in that regard.

Be sure to say hi to my daughter when you are at Drake.

Ugh.

When you walk out to your car for work, and the skunk smell is so bad you can taste it. Blech.

Imagine how bad it must be for animals with an acute sense of smell.

Dash, my neighbors dog who I feed marrow bone treats to, is just now back to stepping foot on my lot and befriending me again. Basically every time they were out walking and I am out he comes to me and sits and does paw thingie etc for a treat. Sprayed some stinky Liquid Fence this spring when rabbits and deer were starting to eat my hostas. I suddenly became the devil. Dash would avoid even my side of the road and me even if I was not on my lot. Was weird. He was like deathly afraid of me. He's gradually okay with me again, maybe only until I spray the Japanese yews this winter.

Isn't that the tree that killed all of those Lipizzaner stallions at Western Illinois about 30 years ago?

That's a good problem to have. :)

Kinda. It's a double-edged sword.
It's nice to have the income, but it's a really weak income.
It's good to be able to figure this stuff out, but it makes a prof look stupid when we're working with different LMS stuff at different places.

In other news, for some reason, DMACC sent the evaluations to students in the course they cancelled, and at least one person responded. I'm really curious what they have to say, even though it totally doesn't matter.

Winds gusty to 45mph. Guess THAT will take down the last of the leaves! No sense bothering with any gathering as neighbors oak leaves will just blow in to cover anything I gather. Guessing I have at least another 15 bags to go. Think I'm in at around 40 so far.

Crabapple is hanging though. Impressive.

Outside of the leaves that have blown into my yard today I'm almost completely finished with my yard cleanup. Just need to get my extremely overgrown sidewalks edged.

I did the whole lot again last night - for what we have decided is the last time for the year. Any stragglers on our lindens or leaves that blow in from elsewhere will just have to wait.

I had to clean up a few things that got missed early this morning when it was light because working in the dark isn't conducive to a tidy job.

I hope the neighbor behind does his leaves. If he doesn't we will have that tar on our maples for a third year.
