Question for those Vaccinated people. Wife told me her good friends family member got her second shot and was told she is good for three months and will need to come in again in three months and get another booster. At that rate I think I’m giving up on any idea of getting one and banking in my ABs.

Got into the old work blazer today. Oldest taking a study break and we are going to grab some downspout extenders to reach over the seeded ground last fall. Get in, pull the door shut and watch the driver side mirror fall off. It’s a power mirror so it’s just hanging there. Man this thing is starting to eat money.
At first I thought you were talking about something like this. 1614695488103.pngI Was expecting it to tear out the back seam when you were pulling the door shut. :D

I wouldn't believe everything you hear regarding COVID and vaccines. Get your vaccine. As time goes on they will have more data on long term efficacy and guidelines will be refined. In the mean time you will be part of the solution and protecting those you love.

Sorry, didn't mean for that to read so strong. Just my opinion. :)

This was from whoever gave her the shot in DM. I’m still showing ABs and feel I’m doing my part by giving plasma. Once you get the shot your plasma is no longer good for Covid treatment.

I may be foolishly feeling less concern about me with Covid since I was a foot away from someone positive for 6hours and even was coughed on a few times and weathered that with very little symptoms. So I’m pushing myself to the back of the line

Yeah, that makes sense. I thought you were pushing yourself out of the line rather than pushing yourself to the back of the line. I respect that 100%.

There are even many in the medical community who aren't closely following the science of the pandemic and are instead letting politics cloud their judgement. I would trust what is coming from the CDC rather than some random nurse who is just putting needles in arms.

I won't say any more because sadly this starts to become cave material.

That is part of the issue though, Fauci is jumping all over the place and is confusing people left and right. A lot of people are listening to him instead of the CDC. Some of the early Covid threads on here, several posters were saying that the CDC is political and gives unreliable information. I'm old enough to remember the HIV/AIDS outbreak in the 80s. Fauci was the one recommending those harsh cocktails of meds that was more killing of the people then helping them. Took him awhile to accept he was wrong and steer people away from it. It seems there is a rush by some of the medical field to "be the smartest and be the first who was right" so they will throw crap at the wall and see if they are right. I will say I think too much politics are involved all the way around and won't touch that any further.

I'd just get it done. This sounds exactly like tempting fate the wrong way.

Ever watch the HBO show "And the Band Played on" ?

I had to come into the office. Everything was acting up. Keyboard just doing random things, mouse all messed up. Tried to do a Teams call and it was all crackly and we could barely hear each other.
Just rebooted and now things work normal,
Weird

I don't know what goes on in your circle but in the circles around my dad people are really really uninformed on most things Covid-- still lots of 'if I get, oh well' type of stuff without understanding that they could still infect others.

I digress...but I don't think there's been anything out there for getting third shot after three months or even having the availability. Only 'booster' talk I've seen is updating for the variants as they have shown to somewhat escape ABs.

That said if studies are accurate and the vaccines give similar protection there should be decent protection for way more than three months (I can't believe that kind of rumor is still out there). It sounds like one shot should be good for someone with a previous infection.

Hmm, maybe someone wanted you out of the house. Be careful when you go back.

Yeah (moving to slightly different topic here) I know that not all medical office personnel are top shelf. I'm not talking their medical area, I mean in general. One place I go here in Ames that has a big ISU supporter - has all the posters, sees athletes, etc. (not a medical doctor) has my office location listed as Kildy. Sigh.

Our guy tested in the basement. I think that's where most people will test since radon comes from the soil.
It's also significantly denser than air, so it collects there as well.
The big concern is it getting grabbed in air returns through forced air heating systems and distributed throughout the house.

No. I'm cheap and don't have HBO.

EDIT: I googled it and it looks like it would be something I'd be interested in. Old enough that maybe I can dig it up somewhere. The smartest individual I ever worked with contracted HIV mid to late 90s, haven't seen him in a while. I went back to his place of business one time and having been an employee one time, I was talking to a former co-worker and excused myself to use a restroom. When I came out, there was a couple people with horrified looks on their faces. Was told it was "his" bathroom and asked if I was concerned. They were alarmed when I said I wasn't because I wash hand and treat any bathroom that isn't in my house like a public restroom. Touch basically nothing with my barehands. I was surprised that they hadn't all quit since he was still working there. They were living in the 80s thinking if he breathed on him they could almost get it. People like to feed off the worst of everything it seems.
