Not to be all Marcus Welby, but sprains can actually be tears. Depends on the severity. My hope, or course, is that she has a mild sprain without tearing. Those should heal in 7-10 days, with rest.

The good part is her youth should help speed the healing process. Keep us posted!

That daughter of yours has taught you quite a bit. ;)

Yeah, the way I had learned it was that a sprain was really the same as a tear, the difference really being the amount of tissue torn. So in most sprains there is minor tearing but the integrity of the ligament/tendon/muscle is intact so the torn tissue remains in proximity allowing quicker healing.

Heck, when we exert our muscles we generally create micro-tears in the muscle so our body responds by rebuilding the damaged tissue stronger than it was before - thus the stressed muscles gain strength. So by training activity - or any other strenuous physical work for that matter we are really abusing our tissues so they can be rebuilt "better, stronger, faster".

This is from the voice of OBSERVATION, not EXPERIENCE. :D

Closest I ever got to drugs was smoking a joint with my sister. I was 27. I am the lamest party animal you will ever meet. :D
I disagreed with this. I have partied with KC and Lew. They are more fun than they give themselves credit for.

Please don't look at my dangling participle. I am too lazy to put a fig leaf over it.

Holy cow, hair brushes are expensive. I have a specific one I like and the round part is tearing so it’s a matter of time. Don’t feel like spending money on those things.

Oh, correction to my initial post on the topic. The MCL sprain is in the opposite leg as her previous ACL tear. In soccer terms her MCL injury is in her kicking leg while her ACL was in her plant leg.

Yes, I know this is simplified because in soccer you kick with both legs...

Funny thing daughter shared with me: She had told them that she was injured Nordic skiiing. When PA comes in the room the first thing he said was "Where you skate skiing?" Surprised she responded that she was. He said he knew because he is a skiier as well. Apparently this is a much more common injury in skate then classic skiing. I can see why when I think about the movement in skate v. classic.

Sorry, folks. Enough about my daughter's injury.

Plant leg

Sounds like something that Groot would have, doesn't it?

Never did learn how to skate ski, but I used to classic back in the day. It was fun ski's are still in the garage. Should have got them out before the big thaw came.

That reminded me of David Brenner's old routine when he said he thought the bravest man ever was the one who fist tried cow's milk. After the laughing subsided, Brenner says: "Imagine 2 guys, standing and looking at a cow. One says to the other, 'See that bag hanging down underneath it? I'm gonna go drink the first thing that comes out of it!'"
I've often thought about how and why people started doing things. Most likely by accident or desperation.

I have debated quitting and becoming a pizza delivery guy multiple times the last couple of weeks. Now for two straight days of the same all day meeting.

Is it one of those meetings that could be like an hour tops but there's too many people on soapboxes?

When I go to Costco their jobs look pretty appealing. I've been going there for ten years and most of the workers have been there the whole time so I figure there must be a pretty good job satisfaction.

Bought a pineapple the other day, started thinking about who actually looked at things like that and decided maybe there was something good in there to eat. Or a coconut.

My mind works in weird ways.

I'm the same way and usually food for me, like how did it go the first time somebody ate an egg or looked at a crab and thought "maybe I should eat that ugly giant insect looking thing coming out of the ocean"

Like I said, accident or desperation. I assume many saw animals in the wild eating things and decided to eat it as well. Of course then they had to determine a better way to eat it.
Take bread for example. I imaging they tried eating the wheat but it was difficult so they decided to grind it up with a rock to make it a little easier to chew. Then when it was too dry they decided to add some water to it. At some point they figured why not heat it up some and viola, flatbread.
