Race Thompson

Well this loss smarts a little, considering how long Prohm has been recruiting Race.
At least it is early and there are many other PF targets on the board.
Really hoping the staff can get a commitment soon to get the ball rolling on the class and get other targets to join.

Seems like the length of time you've been recruiting someone doesn't really matter that much anymore. Vaughn, Juiston, Race Thompson, the list goes on and on and on.

Race probably liked ISU a lot, but was overwhelmed by Indiana. You can't really blame a kid for visiting someplace and just everything clicks for them. We can usually offer a really decent basketball program, great academics, small town atmosphere, and an awesome campus, but the problem in this case is that Indiana beats us in every one of those aspects probably. Not many can beat us on our campus, but Indiana's is even more beautiful.

From what i understand it was a weird situation with the early reg playing a part. I'm thinking my contact was a bit confused which makes me think he didn't have a good idea what was going on. Sorta happy it wasn't Minnesota tho.

He's redshirting 2017-18 at Indiana so I have a hard time believing early playing time was a deciding factor.

I wasn't talking about early playing time, I meant the early reg in school. It's a weird situation.

I really can't believe we don't land more Minnesota players. Such a short drive down I-35. I'm sure a lot of kids up there would like to get away from home a bit, but not go too far where their parents can't drive to see them play, etc. ISU would make so much sense for them.

There were a ton of Minneapolis kids living on my dorm floor back in the day at ISU.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to almost expect to not get many of these guys whose names show up on this board as ones "we're sitting good with".... Having said that, we know all we can do is move on and keep the faith and know the staff is working hard at it.

Without changing the course of this thread, I was just curious... who are the names/recruits that people can remember the most that we were really excited about in the past, thinking we really wanted them, thought we were a leader for, & extremely bummed when they chose elsewhere..BUT it turned out that it really wasn't a big loss after all. (Not names like Vaughn, because he obviously went on to the NBA quickly- rather a guy we fretted losing but he really didn't shine elsewhere).

Most of them.

I don't know much about our new GA, Nick Graham, but from his Twitter he seems to have great relationships with players and seems to be a young guy that can relate to some players as well. Hopefully this will help the recruiting efforts going forward.

Race is a miss. Nothing we can do about it and it doesn't help to sit here and bash the lead recruiters.

On to the next!

As of right now, our front court still looks to be very good for the 2018-2019 season with Lard, Young, Jacobson, and Shayok (wing).

I agree losing Race wasn't a killer.

However we really need to add 1-2 pieces to our backcourt for after we lose Shayok.
