Nvm. The reporter lied. He’s just visiting other schools.
This reporter notes (to him, approximately the 1:40 mark) that he has decommitted and what's next. Replies that he is open to all schools, would like to visit Kentucky.
I think Matt will be spending some time this week easing recruits minds about all of these rumors.
You have to wonder how many recruits would jump ship if Campbell leaves.
That’s why if he leaves and sticks by the whole, “this program is in a good place to continue and is set up for success” I am not so sure that’s true. Our history outside of this 5-year run is not pretty. This class coming in is coming to play for him and this staff. How many of these guys don’t care really what the jersey says because they are signing up to play for Matt Campbell wherever that may be?
And that's not even considering that with transfer portal rules any of our current players can leave just as easy as CMC.
As much as I want to believe that ISU football is setup for the long haul, the transfer portal makes it super easy for it all to go away.
Why I feel we need Campbell for about two more years. Have some more 8-9 win seasons and we will have gotten over the hump. Right now we look like the great class that carried us. Go 8 years and it would mean you had a couple. Plus hold the top 25 class we have and that will pay huge dividends. The big issue is assistants. I feel we did well because Campbell brought nearly all of them with him. If we hold most of our guys we could weather Campbell probably, will be a total change if he takes 3+ with him. That is if, I don’t fully see him leaving.
Is that normal though? I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of an entire recruiting class jumping ship after a coach leaves.
Saw he visited Florida for one example, after he committed to us but what kid wouldn't go to his home state university and take in a game? For all we know, now that Dan Mullen has been fired, some of our Florida commits will be enticed by other forces if not already. Has there been any good sources on who Florida is hiring?
