Q&A: Abdelmassih breaks down DeAndre Kane

Good interview CW, but is it off limits to ask Matt how we have room for him on the roster? Because if not, that is the question that MUST be asked by any responsible journalist.

Out of morbid curiosity, why exactly is it imperative to ask a sensitive question such as that? If your answer is to feed the obsession of a few message board posters, that isn't going to cut it.

All hail clonedude, Supreme Master Dictator/Overseer of responsible journalism.

Interesting to hear him address the "suspect past" issue ... then brag about their batting average.

It is probably something that Matt cannot talk about right now.

unless you want CW to **** off the staff and leading to stop features like this, then yeah, sounds smart.

Look, clonedude is right. That is a question that should have been asked. It is an obvious issue/obstacle. I would hope even John Walters would ask it and he is on ISU's payroll.

The question probably was asked but due to obvious reasons, the staff can't comment on it yet. And if they did tell CW what was up, it wouldn't be very smart of him to tell us if the comment was made off the record.

Chris isn't a normal journo and there is no why MA would answer and everyone knows it. One persons responsible journalism is another's waste of time.

I think you're right. A journalist has to walk a fine line between asking difficult questions and maintaining a good working relationship with their sources; I see no reason to second-guess CW's judgment in that regard.

The question could have been asked indirectly but I completely understand it not being asked. Something like "Coach, do you expect the walk-ons to make contribution next year?"

Bubu returning to walk-on status is obviously a strong possibility, but I don't see it as a certainty at all.

Honestly this question is pointless to ask. When there is a decision, ISU will make an announcement. Before then it will be, "No comment." So the only possible response CW can get here is, "no comment." Trying to bait Matt into revealing more would only go to hurt the kid that is losing the scholarship. Once the decision is well thought out and Fred has had a conversation with the player, then an announcement will be made.

Bubu returning to walk-on status is obviously a strong possibility, but I don't see it as a certainty at all.[/QUOTE] This seems to be the easy answer. Bubu is very smart and I was thinking at one point in time he had academic scholarships, so it could be that he will go back to this status for the team. One thing is for sure, Fred has it all figured out, as usual. That guy doesn't do anything without a well thought out plan.
