PSU Campbell Presser

To be honest listening to him keep talking about the tremendous culture at Penn St. got me a little nauseous.
I still can't take it seriously. He was a guy about building a culture and embodied Iowa State - doing less with more and still winning. And now he's still a 'culture' guy at a school with a crazy amount of money and the history they had 15 yrs ago.

So Campbell coaches their bowl game vs Clemson on Dec 27. Will be painful to see him on the sideline in a worn Penn St auto repair shop hat, but interesting. I love Matt Campbell but will be rooting for Clemson. Mostly to quiet the arrogant PSU fans who assume Campbell will take every player and recruit from ISU that he wants.

If somehow Campbell is unable to poach several of our best players and recruits and he loses that game it will humble that fanbase.

It’s just the way it is, they have to immediately adopt the traditions and pretend they’re connected when obviously they aren’t. At least he didn’t go south and have to adopt an accent like Brian Kelly too.

Watched it last night, and the feeling I walked away with is that Penn State does not deserve Matt Campbell.

Their AD came off as a total buffoon. He essentially confirmed that they went after several guys before Campbell, but once he talked to Matt, he realized that Matt was the perfect fit all along.

Just sucks to see Matt go somewhere he's not fully appreciated, and it sucks to see Penn State fail into the right hire.

With ISU's resources, we live in a world with no margin for error. Whereas teams like Penn State can just blow money on massive buyouts and have endless lists of quality candidates waiting in the wings to take over. It's just isn't fair. But I guess that's the world we live in.

Also sounded like he was saying that Penn State started their funding in the AD while at ISU they had to start a collective. Wasn't starting the collective necessary because having the AD start it was expkicitly against the rules? Too bad ISU had to do things by the rules unlike the blue bloods.
Well PSU isn't exactly the poster child for integrity and following the rules. Jerry Sandusky and Todd Hodne say hello.

People need to realize that PSU has many more shiny objects then ISU:
-Larger alumni base
-Larger State population
-4-6 hour radius to probably 50% of the United States population
-Lots of Money/very large donor base
-Top facilities and continue to have to dump sizable money into renovations
-Athletic budget that is probably 3-4x's ISU budget
-Double the number of heads in the athletic dept
-A state that supports the university from $ standpoint
-Transportation for recruiting: multiple jets/helicopter
-Massive production team to create content
-The list goes on....

But they will always be little brother to the Buckeyes
All true, but list goes way beyond Ohio St.
Ped St. hasn’t won the NC, that Campbell is supposed to win, in 39 years. Better overall record, but they are really Nebraska 2.0.

Coach Matt Campbell seemed very uncomfortable to me. Just my impression.

Did they? They come across as a team that rules are not really rules. How far is Campbell willing to bend and break morality and ethics to get to the level PSU expects.

Is this based on 25 year old stuff or recent stuff?

You know Matt hates doing these social media promos.

Not CMC related. TV report from last week before Campbell news broke on how BYU fans donated to State College Food Bank after Sitake turned them down.

Don’t know if you watched the news the past 30 days but hardly anyone of quality wanted that job. Just one guy it seems. As luck would have it, he happened to coach for us.
