PSU Campbell Presser

Oofta, I had not thought about that play in a long time and now, it might be back in my nightmares for the next few weeks.

I actually think a few plays before that was worse. Purdy had all sorts of green grass in front of him and forces a tough pass in to Chase Allen for an incompletion though looking back again, Chase was manned up.

Starts at around the 2:21:00 mark:

That was the day Campbell lost me and then the 2021 season was the final straw.

We had all the momentum, then 2 false starts followed by a completely incompetent coaching staff ruined everything. After the 2 false starts we almost got delay of game penalties on 2 straight plays. Just mind boggling how that coaching staff handled that sequence.

Bruns is a FB alum who loves ISU while still providing fairly even-handed analysis.

If he really got offended at something Bruns said…I’m sure he’ll handle the Pitt & Philly media well o_O
The guy blew a gasket because some random drunk guy yelled “Hot Seat” after we got beat by a G5 team. Guys skin was paper thin.

Agree. Second season will be his real test. Schedule in year one sets up a strong record and unrealistic expectations for year two, when the schedule ramps up considerably. I can see clashes with reporters, boosters and casual fans.
Their schedule doesn't even ramp up in 2027. The Big 10 is setting these up just like the SEC to avoid the top teams giving each other unnecessary losses in the regular season.

They don't even play Ohio State in the next 2 years and they go to Indiana and Oregon in '27. Their schedule sets up for 10-2 his first 2 years.

They also schedule regional powers like Temple and Marshall in the OOC so they won't have any losses.

Campbell will get his players to buy-in that’s what he is especially good at. He isn’t an elite in-game coach that’s for sure.

What will be interesting is seeing how important Heacock was to Matt’s success. Defense carried us to more victories than Offense during his tenure.
I think it’s a little easier to get undervalued players with chips on their shoulders to buy in to culture based programs. He is going to have a team full of high dollar NIL players being told by some ISU xfers what they should and shouldn’t be doing. I don’t expect that to go well. Even as the years go on and ISU has moved on from their locker room, there is still high dollar players playing the me game.

If he is to succeed there. It’s because he evolves into something new.

Who does he have in September. That’s when his teams really play down to their competition

Doesn't leave the state of Pennsylvania for any non-conf games first 2 years.

Someone will have to refresh my memory. There was a post-game presser where Campbell criticized fans and said he would always have the backs of his players. Except fans weren't being critical of any of the players. We were being critical of his decisions that led to a loss.

Unfortunately, he have (had?) an incredible number of fans who would torch players relentlessly, but go completely off the rails if anyone was at all critical of Saint Matt.

This is the most laughable part of all of this. People need to brush up on their geography.

I’m sure Matt will just hop on the car and drive 4 hours to DC to see his daughter at school.
Its as laughable as the plot of Die Hard 2.

Planes circling for hours running out of gas when they could have just diverted to Reagan, Baltimore, Philadelphia, or about 10 other cities on the east coast that would have been less than an hour away.

Sort of like a successful college coaching coach the nba?

Is Grunkenmeyer, or whatever his name is, staying at PSU? If so, that should be interesting. Is Manske wanting to be at best a 3rd string QB at PSU, over being the starter at ISU?

He can probably go be the starter at KSU.
