PSU Campbell Presser

Matt benefited from very easy schedules the last two years as well. It's silly not to act like that wasn't a big part of this "historic three year run" he's talking about.
His teams were also good for one inexplicable loss per season. In games where his team was heavily favored, we would always take this crazy conservative approach to the game.

“We are gonna line up and beat you running the simplest game plan ever.” It usually worked but there were also games where it didn’t. We played a terrible team at a razor thin margin. A fumble here or a penalty there and we lose.

PSU fans are not going to forgive a game like Ohio or Colorado. He can be fine losing to most B1G teams, but god help him if he ever loses a non-conference game against a G5 team.

Campbell's biggest deficiencies are gonna be his coordinators. He was lucky to have Heacock (and now he won't) and struggled with OCs the whole time he was here. And we all know about his special teams. These things are all about to be exposed at PSU.
The dirty little secret is that Campbell has always had his hands all over that offense, and while he wasn't the play caller except for one season If I recall, the parameters of the offense are the ones he's put on it.

PSU fans are out for championships. They aren’t going to settle for the mediocrity that so many of us have been lapping up for years. One preventable loss to another B1G team is all it will take for them to start turning.

Hate to rag on the guy just to make myself feel better.... But the same can be said for his S&C "strategy".

You don't think Psu fans are going to appreciate punts into their own team at least once a season?
It probably wasn't that much but it wasn't uncommon.

I appreciate Matt and what he accomplished here, with that said…not a chance in hell his “trust the process” “win in the margins” will fly in state college. He is truly gonna have to up his game! Not saying he can’t, will just have to see if he does. The guys following him won’t be anything but another player on campus there. Time will tell. Don’t wish him ill will but…will never pull for Penn St!

I wonder how State College will react when Campbell is driving for a Big 10 championship, refuses to use his last time out when his OC can't call a play on time, and then watches as his QB panics with 1 second left and throws a pick?
Hey, I think I’ve seen that before somewhere…?
