Preseason Top 25

I'm thinking we end up ranked in the 12-15 range. However, some posters here need to at least wait to see Nader and McKay play before putting is on the top 10.

Iowa might end up being ISU's highest RPI non-con game. Don't knock them too bad. You might need to use that on an ISU "Good Wins" list down the line. You never know.

Beating KU three times will be fine.

Hey look, I get it. Kansas hated Mizzou so much that it didn't matter if them being good when we beat them helped us or not, I wanted to see them lose every single game by 50 points. I guess I am just not used to such a rivalry between two schools that aren't even in the same conference. It just seems weird to me. That's all.

Yes.

I put ISU at 12 in this thread, which is confident extension assuming Nader and McKay -- and BDJ -- live up to hype. Even with that, it's highest I can go right now without seeing them in action. Around 15th is reasonable with core returnees.

And you seem weird to us.

Why is being in the same conference so important? A rivalry is a rivalry. Do you hate Mizzou any less now that they're in the SEC?

A little, yes. And it will be less and less as the years go by. Since they do not stand between us and a conference title they went from an annoying little brother in our house to an annoying neighbor down the street.

Not playing them at all anymore has more to do with it.

Every Nebraskan that I've met finds it odd. I chalk that up to Nebraskan water and culture.

Let's be honest, they never really stood between KU and the conference title. The only reason you answered "A little, yes" is because you guys don't play each other any more. If you continued to have yearly games against Mizzou it would still be hated. In order to keep a rivalry you have to play the team every year. And for us and Iowa it's also a conference pride thing too, on top of just wanting to beat them. Yeah, it's safe to say that you don't get it. Live in the state between the months of September and March, and you'll understand perfectly.
