Iowa State's first two f*ck your mother drives they put down Oregon's throat would like a word.
I'm curious what metric he's using the establish "more talented."
Name recognition? Can't argue that.
Recruiting rankings? Sure.
Casual fan perception? Okay.
Results on the field? Sure, Notre Dame handled ISU, but that was two years ago. Those guys are mostly gone for ND, and our guys are seniors now. As for Oregon, the Fiesta Bowl wasn't even as close as the score indicated, and 34-17 isn't really that close.
Detailed analytics and prior production? Nope.
Expectations for 2021? I'll point to ISUs four first-team All Americans. Oregon and ND combine for 2 first teamers and 1 second teamer.

Our game with Oregon was as dominant as a 30 point blowout, and that's clear to anyone who watched the game
They talk about Oregon's strength at QB. That seems strange to me since they got inconsistent play from both QBs last year including the one who is back with their team this year. Purdy was at times inconsistent but not more inconsistent than their QBs last year.
It’s not about if the ball hit the pylon before hitting out of bound. Did the nose of the football breach the goal line before touching out of bounds? I think it’s entirely possible it did but you really can’t confirm one way or the other. It was definitely the right call to have the play upheld.
Oh, interesting. I never thought about the pylon. I always thought that the nose of the ball broke the plane before hitting the pylon.
And compared to two years ago the Cyclones will be bigger and more conditioned. That ND game showed CMC that he needed to upgrade his S&C coaching, and we'll see the results of that this year.

I'd loved to have read IUs message boards after we whipped Oregon and they lost. Although they probably just stopped talking!

As an ND fan, I loved Ian Book but a lot of his plays resulted from missing obvious reads and wide open receivers. Too often he would put his head down and scramble instead of looking for his 2nd or 3rd option. I am optimistic about Coan in that he seems to be able to throw the ball down the field with some accuracy and he's quicker than expected on the run. Two years ago it killed me having to watch my alma mater (ND) pound my parents' school(ISU) but I think Iowa State is light years better than two seasons ago. That was just a bad matchup for ISU in that Notre Dame was content taking what ISU's defense gave them which was 4-5 yards a play and one on one with ND's big receivers.
If we have the opportunity to pour the coals to them I certainly hope we do.

Iowa State listed as an overrated team. we'll see a lot of this i'm sure. mentions Purdy inconsistency as their reason for not fully believing. can't argue a ton with that.
but i love that we are starting top 10, cause we've seen that matters for getting into playoffs later or whatever bowl it is. unfortunately pre season rankings actually do matter. first time getting this kind of advantage for us.

You are assuming someone like Cincy, ND, NC, Oregon or Wisky doesn't beat the **** out of some hapless opponent and half of the AP voters lose their minds and leapfrog the team over ISU.

Unless its a lopsided game neither should drop out of the top 10. Losing a competitive game against a top 5 opponent shouldn't be a ding to the resume
