What in the F are you talking about? This is sarcasm right?
Have you completely forgotten where we were when Fred took over?
Yes. Sarcasm at the highest level. Look through my posts, it will come together.

I would have felt better about Otz had he never left ISU. He was not a part of ISU's 2 most successful seasons under Fred. Even if Otz had 1 recent year under Fred, I'd feel better about it. But coming from UW and going straight to being the HC makes me nervous. Not sure what kind of continuity we'd really be getting.
What would you like him to do? The jobs are not open yet. Would you resign your job before you had another lined up? Forget that, before you even knew if another was available?
Just remember ISU is under contract to our wayward favorite son FH. He has not submitted his formal resignation. So anything going forward will have to be agreeable to Fred or it will not fly. High stakes poker folks. Fred holds some cards in his hand too.
I agree. The longer this goes on, the less respect I have for Fred. JP is to blame as well IMO if there is any kind of rift there, because JP should basically be doing whatever Fred wants within reason, but paying him about 4 million would be within reason IMO.
I think this is a couple of big egos going at it. But if Fred loves ISU like claims he does, then why not put a big buyout in his contract to go to the NBA? The T-Wolves or the Bulls would have no issues paying ISU a million bucks or more to get Fred Hoiberg. Those NBA teams have money like there's no tomorrow. So if Fred leaves, then wouldn't he want ISU to get compensated for that?
And if I were a big donor, there's no way I contribute any $$ for Fred unless I'm guaranteed at least 3 years out of him. If they are going to arrange a deal where Fred stays for one more year, then I'd say just let him go now instead. Our program will be "dead" for a year if Fred only stayed for one more year. No recruits will want to come here at all.
And the more and more I think about this, the more comfortable I am with TJ becoming the next head coach. Mainly because I'm not confident in JP's abilities to get anyone else, but also because I think the continuity might be more important than finding a "top tier" head coach that is going to come in and change everything and then this year's team takes a big step back because they are learning all new concepts.
This year will be CRITICAL for ISU basketball. We have the potential to make a run at the Final Four. But the only way that happens IMO, is if we continue with the same style of play that our players are used to. We can't afford to have someone new come in here and change everything up right now IMO.
I just can't believe Fred is going to leave the school he loves before accomplishing really any of his goals. One Sweet Sixteen is not all that much of an accomplishment really. Granted, it's better than where we've been for a while, and I'm grateful for that, however, I thought Fred was more of a competitor than that? Going out with a horribly coached loss in the first round to a UAB team that had no business being in the game with ISU is an embarrassing way to go out. I just thought Fred was better than that, and cared more about ISU than that? Guess not. His legacy at ISU will now be tarnished somewhat IMO. He'll still be a legacy of course, but just not like he could have been.
Fred has 3 options: 1. Take Bulls job or Timberwolves job now. 2. Coach next year with his current contract. If he did this we would know we'd be going through this again next year. 95% of fans would be ok with this though. 3. Sign a big contract with a large nba buyout.I don't get why it would "anger" anyone. We'll pay you more money, in return we want the buyout larger. It is high stakes, I don't see how that comes off as insulting or anything, it's what the donors would like tied to the higher wage.
Yes, he is being facetious.
It would be really pathetic if this is what kept us from trying to make a deal with him happen.
I think it's interesting Pollard doesn't want to propose a higher NBA buyout. Would the buyout really limit Fred's ability to move to the NBA? At the very least it'd be nice to get a few bucks when he does go and a way to help us out a bit financially.
I don't get paying him more for another year either, if he's waiting on the twolves he'll wait at the same pay.
Very well said. I wish JP would say this to Fred. Instead, he tells fans to "step away from the ledge."The situation is not fair to anybody. If you love who you work for you don't have one foot in and one foot out. Make a decision. If you want to go coach in the NBA go do it. If you want to coach ISU come out and make a statement. Allow a buyout to be put in that show you have a long term commitment. This has been a very selfish move by a few people that impact allot of young peoples lives.

This! I don't see the big push for JH... I think "Hoiball" is actually more important for ISU to remain relevant than Hoiberg or any coach. If ISU can prove to keep that style of play going without Hoiberg then we are going to be in fair shape going forward. I would think recruits look at that more than the coach, although Hoiberg was the architect here, it can exist without him.
And really thats probably why he feels comfortable leaving. He believes he has established a blueprint and clearly thinks TJ can run with that.
