These "new players" you were talking about who played LB last year had mostly been in the system 3 years or more.

A player like that can also rub off on people and help make guys around him better too.
Being here doesn't give you experience on the field. Inexperienced players will look slow when they have to think about their job and the DL isn't doing a good job of theirs.
This is football 101 really, you should know it by now.
You know what? I don't agree with you that its normal for 3rd year players to look lost out on the field. For most Big 12 and P5 teams, 3rd year LBs who start for the first time do not look completely lost out there (Miller, Seely, etc.) They may have a learning curve but they don't stand out like our guys have. That has been a pattern under our current coaching staff. It is not actually normal - it may seem normal to you, but really, it isn't. For what its worth - Knott hasn't looked lost like these guys, he is just too small and get dominated by blockers.
If you watched much football, you should know this by now. Players looking completely lost and overmatched when they take the field isn't "Football 101," its a sign of poor talent and/or coaching.
You are talking about our back up linebackers. Has that registered for you yet?
Do you expect those guys to start? I dont with the exception maybe being Knott over peters.

Last year's starters have all been beaten out by younger/newer players. How can that not be a positive sign?
Knott, Seeley and Mills were Soph/Soph/Freshman....and only Knott had any prior experience in games. How can you not expect that they will be better now having some experience and another year to develop?
And yes, we've had guys show dramatic development with added on-field experience and off season work...Jesse Smith and Jeremiah George leap off the page. Talent certainly is an issue with our LB corps the last couple of years, but that does not suggest...with 3 new guys exceeding the past season's starters and gaining starting roles...that the talent can't improve.

You really don't understand the importance of a DL do you? If you're going to try to compare our LB corps to others, at least do it with teams that had just as bad of DL's. Because those LB's will also look bad, especially when they don't have experience.
I was disputing the position that we have good "depth" at the position. Has that registered for you yet?
The players I was discussing in that post you quoted was in direct response to discussion with another poster on those specific players. Does that register for you now?
No really, I do. I just actually watched our LBs play last year, which is why I don't blame their play on our DL.
The defensive line will be much improved, secondary should be decent not great, and the linebackers....yikes. Teams won't need to pass, our run defense scares me. And a side note, this secondary had the makings of being really great until TJ was dismissed.
It is a good thing we have new starters there. Did you miss my post where I stated that very thing?
Really the only returning starters who was beat out thought was Seeley, who started after Miller's injury.

Qujuan Floyd looks like he could be a good one. Great size too at 6 feet 200. He can really hit. We should have two hard hitting safeties this fall. Hopefully they can cover in space, I don't quite remember how Moya did last fall. Must have been pretty solid.
Mesa what starters from last year have been beaten out? TJ was dismissed, miller was a SR, Dev Cousins got in legal trouble and may have to sit out, Morrissey was a SR, and Knott is all but done due to lingering injury, I see no one getting beaten out.
Floyd looked good last year (still feel bad for him about the dropped pass on the fake punt). I think he will fill in fine for Mutcherson, though if Mutch was back Floyd might have been starting at the nickel position. Definitely like our safeties.
He's talking about LB's. Seely, Mills and Knott were all starters at one time last year and have been beaten out (so far) by younger (can't really call Harris younger just newer) guys.
Mills didn't play much and Seely was in solely due to injury last year. Both were backups last year. Knott would likely be a stater this year if not for injuries.
