I love Pollard. I will however say that he pissed off a couple HUGE donors over the last 2 weeks. One of the donors has his name on a building pretty close to the stadium. Actually Colbertson can hit that building if he kicks the ball straight and hard.

Let me tell you something about older Iowans: they don't like change, and they certainly don't want to pay for it. I would give as much weight to this guys' comments as I did to all of the groaning I heard in Story City when they changed the price of the Friday Steak Fry from $8 to $10.
This post is right on...we are way behind the curve in the "athletics arms race". Pollard's vision is nothing more than a carbon copy of what most other BCS conference schools have either done or are doing.
The guy that posted on the DMR is just a sour grapes idiot.
Apparently, since the building is already named after him, Pollard must have already got his money anyway, so who cares. If they can't get with the program, let 'em sink, and move on to the next one...

I know of one company who donates to the Ag college that has told Geoffrey they would stop their annual donation unless they were given tickets to the game this week. In the past they have been given a tent and tickets, but Pollard has stopped that this year.
I like Jamie Pollard just fine...but to say he is doing a great job, average job or bad job at this point is just guessing! Eventually he will be judged based on wins and losses in the football and mens basketball programs. One thing he has done is replace two (or three) head coaches in important programs. Enough time has not passed in order to evaluate those hirings. While the energy level increased at the time of the new hirings...we can not tell right now how things will turn out! If these coaches don't win...then Jamie's tenure will be looked at in negative terms. That simple. Those who say he is doing a great job...well...so far he has been bold and aggressive. That is refreshing. But to say we will win only because Jamie hired these new coaches...that is just hopeful! Nothing wrong with that...but it is based on hopes...not immediate results! Fans often times have too much blind faith! I guess if we didn't have blind faith...we might not have anything at this point! Just my opinion...
It happens with large donors all the time...perhaps not at ISU...but it happens. Particularly when said large donor is trying strong arm the organization into adapting counterproductive ideas and goals, or otherwise disrupting the progress of the organization.
The details and balance are the key. You cannot allow donors to run the show, but you also have to insure the buy in. I think Pollard is on top of this.
I the donors are hindering the goals you are totally correct. However, if the donors reflect a majority then you have to question the directional goals. Note: This is not a commentary on ISU, curent direction, these are general observations.

I will just say that if T. Boone Pickens asks for a couple extra tickets to the OU vs. OSU game. He would not be denied.
If someone steps up and donates 437 squintillion dollars to the athletic program after building half of the campus, I imagine Pollard might revise the ticket policy for high-level donors.
Jacobson will not pull his donations. I don't think he would get that pissed off. It's also a huge tax write off to donate for them guys. I however think if I was the donor. I would give less money and buy more season ticket's. Just to prove that I can.

Umm? Why? He voted with his pocketbook, and said the price was not worth the increase. I love ISU, I love going to games, but I respect the guys opinion. So far we have not seen anything to merit this substantial increase in prices, and it is going up even more next year.
I am sorry Mr. Cyclone but I have been around this program a lot longer than you have. My father is one of the donors. I am not though you are right. There are two sides to a game. If I had money like those guys I would buy the tickets. It's either that Or my friends would not get in. So either Jamie gives them to them or he should just buy a bunch of season ticket's and drop how much he donates. If he did that I would think he is sticking it right back to the man (Jamie).
I don't understand fans like that. Why is it so wrong to pay average ticket prices for the Big XII?? That's what Pollard raised them to. And I'm sure most of the other schools require larger donations to get good seats.
How can you expect any improvement when you pay bottom of the barrel prices for tickets?
