Yeah…adding a 3 point NF is one I like.Awesome I like it
I’m not here to change anyones mind or anything, but 4 back points for a tilt then 1 release is +3. Takedown and release is +1 net positive. I like a balancing act if we want to reward sound wrestling in all positions. But everyone has their opinionsYeah…adding a 3 point NF is one I like.
I’m not a fan of the 3 pt TD (clearly, if you know my posting history).
I think it'd be interesting to go back and look at last season and see if any losses would be flipped to wins with the new rulesAlso, I think the rule changes will be beneficial for our guys. AE/Paniro, Chittum, Casey, Carr, Yonger, etc.
I believe the review change would have helped or flipped the result of Coleman's last match.I think it'd be interesting to go back and look at last season and see if any losses would be flipped to wins with the new rules
I cant remember the exact sequence but wouldn't casey have beaten woods with a 3pt TD?I think it'd be interesting to go back and look at last season and see if any losses would be flipped to wins with the new rules
Casey lost that match 3-2, so yes he would've wonI cant remember the exact sequence but wouldn't casey have beaten woods with a 3pt TD?
Casey lost 4-2 with giving up the riding time point. Still would've lost 4-3Casey lost that match 3-2, so yes he would've won
Was looking at wrestlestat and they had it as 3-2 Woods, my badCasey lost 4-2 with giving up the riding time point. Still would've lost 4-3
Would dancing around like a monkey in Bloodshot still be legal? No wrestling from the knees
Stalling should be up with the push out ruleSo…now that these rule changes have been in play for a couple years, any opinions? Or is it still too early to tell?
Some of my thoughts, with a little data I’ve found:
- 3 pt near fall: I’ll be totally honest. I don’t think I have ever seen one called. Ever. I’m sure it’s been called but I’ve not seen it. To add, the total number of near falls points awarded, regardless of type, has decreased
- 3 point takedown: I think I saw data suggests a 25% increase in points per match, but no evidence suggests it has positively effected activity. Now…there is deep cut evidence that suggests late match decision dynamics have changed though. There may be more “cut the opponent and try to get another takedown” situations, as opposed to just riding out.
More data:
- Major decisions are up slightly
- Tech falls have increased dramatically
- Falls were down initially, but seem to be moving back to historic averages
- Stall calls are up, but only slightly. Refs may be calling more (slightly), but nothing suggests behavior related to stalling has changed
I think the 3 point takedown has only emphasized “first takedown”, which I think you’re saying in the 2nd part here. The 3 point takedown is better than the 2 point takedown because you don't see as much 3+ minutes of riding time.
The 3 point takedown has also increased the stalling in the 3rd period by the wrestler that got that 3 point takedown. Maybe we need to have stalling as warning, 1 point, 2 points, 2 points and then DQ.
