I think the first post in any thread that contains the word Messingham in its title should have a picture of a dumpster fire. I'll help you out this one time:

Well, he did get us to bowl game last year. I voted to leave him in place for the season. We'd look a lot better if our O-line could open a hole for a running back. Also, there were several open receivers that SR overthrew. Can't put that on the OC in my opinion.

Make a move now to switch out. Anyone, I repeat anyone, can call a run up the middle to start a game. We need more.

Even the announcers commented early about why we continued to try to run up the gut.

I find it crazy that after 250 votes, only 2% are holding steady and and siding with the coaching regime in its current state, while 77% of us want Mess ousted from calling plays. I mean...98% of the votes are coming in not confident in Mess's ability, which is near pretty unanimous.

This is as unified as I've seen the fanbase on a topic in while.......

Exactly. Things could not be much worse. We have taken talented players and made them look inept in two games against weak sisters.

On a side note, how do we know that someone didn't take over calling plays in the 4th quarter? I know CPR said Mess was behind it, but all of a sudden in the 4th qtr, with the game completely out of reach the offense starts throwing the ball down field against what appears to be a horrible pass defense.

Our offensive linemen looked like skinny TE's next to Iowa's d line.

I bet when klenakis walked in here he feared we would man handled. First o lineman we brought in was that 350 lb brusier, right? He's still in HS, I can't remember his name.

There is no point in demoting him, you either stick with it till seasons end or fire him. When an employee has a higher ranking title, they do not want a demotion or if they accept the demotion it only causes further headaches cause now they just really don't care. You just wash your hands of the mess and start over with somebody new.

I will say this that I feel bad for the players busting their hump in practice and games to be 0-2 cause of inept play calling 4th and 4......................... With our play calling how can players make plays when there is no chance from the word go? Take the positives from the 4th quarter and go from there.

While I'm clearly not a Messingham fan, firing him right now won't make the offense any better IMO. I'd say give him another 2-3 games to see if he can make any improvements to the offense. If he can't, then promote someone as interim OC. If they prove to be much more effective, look at them as the permanent solution in 2014. If not, go outside the program and find someone. What is Mangino donig right now?

I think we go Sturdy as interim and then I think we have to look outside the program for a fresh set of eyes for 2014. Be ready to get the checkbook out for someone who will right the ship.

No more sitting back and hoping. I want someone who has an answer.

I'm confused why Sturdy hasn't already been promoted to OC tbh. This offense could barely put points up against 2 weak teams, how are they gonna do anything when the tough part of the schedule comes? It's more beneficial to start over than hope Messingham figures something out.

To the people saying it's only his 2nd game. Um, no it's not. He had all of last year and the offense declined besides the Baylor game.

If you think I'm wrong, tell me why, I honestly can't think of a reason why Mess should still be the OC.

Our Offense lacks confidence. The Coaches don't seem to trust the QB to execute the entire playbook. We are vanilla and our identity reflects the leadership/coaching.

Kliff Kingsbury has a walk on freshman with half of Sam's talent and trusts him to make throws. When his other Freshman came in he had confidence in him to throw the TD on a difficult throw.

We don't have confidence in our players, why should they have confidence in themselves? Go out there sling it around with an attitude. Don't limit the playbook to protect the players. It only protects them from success IMO.

This sentiment drove me nuts. A guy next to me (huge Alabama fan, not sure why he's there) was giving me crap for complaining about the play calls. He kept saying it's the "talent". Wrong. Tell me that the two teams out there on the field are not comparable in talent.

This is not Alabama, USC, Texas, etc. You don't call plays for 5* talent when you have 3* players. It doesn't make sense. And lastly, 3rd and long, a 1yd screen/quick slant from the slot is not failing because the WR isn't talented. It's failing because he has to get 8 yards down field without any blocking.

Looked up Sturdy's offense at Washington State and I liked what I saw, although they were really bad in year 1 and 2, before becoming very solid by year 4. His lack of success at first scares me, although if they were attempting to completely change systems that could have effected it. Since our system here is already similar to what his is I think we would be fine if he took over play calling duties.

I feel like there are a lot of different pieces to this offense and none of them are working. The zone read is not working. It doesn't matter who is calling the plays if none of them work.

97.5% of fanatics have doubts over Messingham.

The only other thing that 97.5% of CF could agree on is that we don't like Nebraska and Iowa.
