How do you grade ISU football season 2017?

My expectation this season was 5 or 6 wins which is a C. Getting to 7 wins and winning the bowl game gets it to B+. However, we lost 5 games by a combined 25 points. 4 of those loses were by a combined 15, and 3 of our loses were by 4 or less. We also had a better road record than home record. Most people will see that and push it to an A, but I see alot of wins left on the field, thus B+.

B+ just because I would've liked to see one more win down the stretch of WVU, OSU, and KSU. A 9 win season would've been an absolute A. Just had a bit of a sour taste to end the season because of what could have been.

Its an A. We beat 2 top 5 teams and won a bowl game. Whoever thinks otherwise needs their head checked. This was one of the best years we have ever had.

Spot on. Not only the wins but the manner we got those wins in and the momentum this team has built. Yea, we have had 8 wins before but I don't think we came out of any of those seasons or the 9 win season confident there was more to come.

If for no other reason CMC gets an A for the culture change around the program.

Or even a near-average program historically.
We're a good hire away from being Kansas.

Takes a fool to argue down an 8 win season.
I'm not arguing it down. But we came out flat against WVU before the rally feel short, had a 10 point lead against Iowa (at home) in the 2nd half and a 7 point lead late, an 8 point lead late against OSU (at home), and a 12 point lead late against KSU. Great season, but it's hard for me not ask what could of been. Similar feeling to the 2005 season, but the good thing is, this one is far from over.

Were we flat against WVU or just trying to win with a (then) one-armed QB?

Sure, could have been more, but an A doesn't mean perfect. There's always work to do for A students, too.

Sure what could have been. It doesn't diminish what the team did this year which is more than any other year. 04/05 still hurt like I know it does with you.

I couldn't agree more (other then your last sentence where I have no ******* clue what you're saying). Some of you act like a B+ is bad...

I was assuming you where in school in 04 and 05 which I believe you were. And witnessed the **** show how those seasons played out

I guess im not sure anyone would give this year an A? It was a very good year but i feel they could have had a few more wins.

I don't think either of those seasons were **** shows. Id argue 04 was one of our better seasons coming off of 2003 which is probably the worst season I've ever seen. 2005 was a great season, but we also had a favorable schedule. Baylor game that year was alot like Texas this year, and the KU game that year was alot like KSU this year. Bowl game was also similar in that we played a lower level conference team that good.

We look the part, only true a couple times since the 1970's.

A+

Amending my first response to this slightly, without reference to the letter-grade: From post-Texas onward, ISU was as complete for teamwide balance and coaching as any top-tier seasons I recall with any clarity (basically from '77 onward)

I don't want to put too much emphasis on W-L, but it matters in long-view. That was an 8-5 team that played more like a 10-win team. Hopefully, that's Campbell's next rung up the ladder.

It's not really fair to compare an 8 win team in the 70s with and 8 win team today. Not to take ANYTHING AWAY from this team, so don't go there, okay?

But there were only 11 regular season games so one less chance for a win there. And one of those teams (with 8 wins and only 3 losses) didn't even GET a bowl invite!

B....Need 10 wins and top 15 ranking for A. That being said, boy was it a fun season. Expectations will be crazy and a 7 regular season wins next year will bring dissension on this board. Hopefully,we get atleast 8 regular season wins and a bowl win. Otherwise, I fear some may dust off their nut cups.
