NBA: Playoff Time

The Mavs will take one from the Thunder in the next one, but the Thunder look like the team to beat in the West. Looking more and more like a Heat-Thunder final by the day.

The Spurs scare the crap out of me.

The Spurs aren't that scary. They have some solid skill players in Parker, Duncan, and Ginobili and some solid role players, but I just don't know if they are built to last against the younger Thunder or even the Grizzlies or Clippers in round 2. Also Kevin Durant is a beast. That is all.

The Spurs are 22-2 their last 24 games, 26-3 on the year in games where Duncan, Parker and Ginobili all play, they are the deepest and best coached team in the West, they are built to last this year. The Thunder have not looked impressive at all in the playoffs before last night. An average Dallas team who did not play particularly well took them to the wire twice. The Thunder are a jump shooting team and when those shots aren't falling they can go on long droughts on offense. I think the Spurs have to be the favorite at this point.

I agree. The more I see of the Spurs, the more it looks like they've stumbled into a perfect mix of veteran experience, young players, and bench depth. But take what they're doing against a very limited Jazz team with a big grain of salt. I think the Thunder are still a year away, but time will tell. At this point I'm more interested to see who comes out of the East. Odds are it'll be the Heat, but don't sleep on the Pacers. I don't love their closer by committee approach, but when they're defending and playing with energy they're a tough out. Roy Hibbert could give Miami's bigs fits.

This kid is psyched for the playoffs

As much as I hate the Heat, they should just be given the East title. Seriously, the rest of the teams are horrid. They'll be able to sleepwalk their way to the Finals.
