Also…. were we Ames College instead ISU when Jack played or what? If not, why do we have AMES on the helmet?

I love the midfield logo. I think a cool touch would had been “JACK TRICE” painted in one end zone and “I WILL” in the other end zone. Regardless, I’m looking forward to the game this weekend. What’s in the end zones really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme

Iowa State Athletic teams were often referred to as Ames according to this.

Colored in endzones are better.

Do you know how hard it is to keep the natural grass doing well toward the end of the football season, especially in the northern midwest? Do you know how much harder it is when you have giant swaths of it completely painted?

When they redid the field in 2008, the navy blue and red in the end zone were still visible even in the sand layer. The darker colors are harsh on grass.

I agree, but the uniform supplier would probably balk at having the trademark phrase of a competitor on midfield.

If the outline of the text in the endzone was white and not gold, it would look better, IMO

Also, I am surprised they didn't just paint them with "Ames"

This is a change that seems reasonable and would greatly enhance the aesthetic. I'm also an anti-gold guy. Hate the all gold basketball uniforms.
