OU Rb Suspended

How is this guy still even allowed to play football? The double standard set by society in reference to his past legal matters is straight up frightening. Says he's a "changed man", but pulls this stunt ... good work, Stoops

Sounds he tore up a parking ticket in front of a OUPD officer, so I think it is a pretty harsh penalty for him. Really surprised anything even came of it, but things are changing.

I would imagine that he's on a pretty short leash.

OU still isn't the best football program in the conference in treating women like crap.

This is great. Here's what Mixon thinks of that parking ticket:

And to the ticket writer:

Vegas not too concerned. Spread only moved form OU -20 to OU -18

I agree on the surface it sounds a little harsh but I'm sure he knows he is walking a fine line. Good for Stoops for being firm. I despise OU when we play them but I do think program is way cleaner that it was in the Switzer era.

Yeah...when a guy has a noted history of being a total piece of ****, you tend to get punished a little more harshly than the average guy.

Oh, I totally agree he is no a short leash and it was stupid to do it, but it isn't like he threw his pregnant girlfriend down a flight of stairs either.

After you punch a woman so hard that it breaks her face, you deserve to be on a short leash. I'd say noose, but whatever . ..

And there's no way Stoops would do this before the Red River Shootout or the OSU game. Or Baylor. Or . . .

As I recall from watching the KU/OU game last weekend (my OU-fan wife insisted we watch it until the bitter end), I recall the OU third string running back heading for a long break away TD getting run down from behind by a KU DB.

So there is hope...or by that time it could have been the 4th string OU RB...

Just a question for those feeling this was a little harsh. What would happen to the average person that tore up a parking ticket in a similar situation? I can't imagine that ending well for you either. At the very least, that fine is still owed regardless of what you did to the ticket.

But really, it isn't about the act of tearing up the ticket that feels like the issue. Just what level of disrespect must an individual have for police to do such a thing? That's what needs to be addressed here with the suspension.

Mixon also responded in the release.
"I regret that I did not respond appropriately to parking attendants and understand and accept the consequences," he said.
According to NewsOK, Mixon tore up a parking ticket in front of an attendant. The attendant then filed a complaint with OU PD.

Kind of penny-ante...
OTOH, I kind of wonder if he tore it up with the attitude of "do you know who I am?", exhibiting star jock privilege?

Another difference in programs...Mixon punches a girl in the face, breaking four facial bones and leaving her unconscious and is suspended, basically, one year. David Irving rips up a stop sign, carries it around and gets his picture taken with it and is dismissed from the team.

Honor Before Victory...o_O

I like that he has an attorney...

While the head coach gave no reason for the suspension, Mixon’s attorney explained to The Oklahoman that the punitive measure stemmed from a parking ticket earlier in the day.

From the newspaper’s report:

At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Mixon was given a parking citation on the north oval, said his attorney, Blake Johnson.

“He was frustrated, as most of us are when we get a ticket,” Johnson said. “He tore the ticket up in front of the parking attendant, and threw it on the ground.”

Later that afternoon, at 1:30 p.m., Johnson said the parking attendant filed a complaint with OUPD.

“We are very confident that Joe did nothing criminal,” Johnson said.

“He’s been suspended for this Thursday’s game, and he understands and accepts that.”
