I was thinking we've had enough players/years now, what is your All Otz era 1st/2nd team? Thinking about it as their best season, not first season or average.

1st:
G - Lipsey
G - C Jones
G - Brockington
F - Jefferson
C - R Jones

2nd:
G - Gilbert
G - Holmes

G - Kalscheur
F - Momcilovic
F - Tre King

I'm stretching it a bit on the 1st team categories but...

1st
G - Lipsey
G - Kalscheur (underrated for what he did in Otz's year 2 for us and the WI NCAA game)
G - C Jones
G/F - Brockington
F/C - Jefferson

2nd
G - Gilbert
G - Holmes
F - Momcilovic
F - Ward
C - R Jones

King probably does fit in there...King/Holmes/Ward is sort of my up in the air group for the last spot. And I think Kunc is really underrated as well. Maybe even throw him in for consideration too.

It's actually really close on a lot of those. I'll chew on it for a while.

It was easy for me to pick the best 4 guards and Jefferson, and after that it's really tough. Tried to have at least one true big on both teams.

Would sub R Jones for Ward but agree with everything else

I looked at Ward and Kunc a lot. Ward is weird because his per minute and advanced stats are great but his total production stats aren't good. His per minute/advanced defensive stats are actually some of the best all time for ISU basketball. Definitely had some things he could do on d. If I added HM those would be the first two probably.

I think when I view this question I view it as player "at their peak when at ISU". Rob had a better floor but you could start to see it really pop for Ward towards the end of his career here.

I look at BYU how they have that Keita player who seems like a bigger stronger version of Zion. Ward is a classically better defensive player but I wish we had a Rob Jones to go against that beast. I really grew into a massive R Jones fan that last season and second half of season before. It's really tough to choose the big guys other than Jefferson but you know it can't just be a team of guards.

Really hard to argue with that first team when considering each players best full year but Gilbert 2024 non-con (pre injury) was the best player under TJ, All-American level.

It's a really tough call, but Gabe was really a tone setter for the new program. Really hard to leave him off the list.

Nobody including Tyrese Hunter?
Hunter had some great games but he also had some real clunkers. At his best, he might make my second team but he was too inconsistent to count on his freshman year here. I was more disappointed in how good I thought he would become when he left and he never did reach what I expected.

I think you’ve nailed it for what I would have picked.

If it was just TJ’s 10 best players regardless of position, Jefferson might be the only big in my top 10? I’d have to think about it more. A lot of TJ’s best players have been guards.

If I could make my starting five not including their actual positions..

1. Lipsey
2. C. Jones
3. Brockington
4. King
5. Jefferson
