OSU v UM Axed

The other rumor is that the "#2" teams from East and West would play each other- IE uofi versus tOSU

Theoretically, that would get tOSU their 6th game and make the eligible.

The other aspect is how funny for UM to be the last straw to break tOSU opportunity.

Jim Harbaugh, "Yes, we finally beat Ohio State!!!..... Well...errr... in positive covid cases, we did right?"

The 6th game is only for eligibility to play in the Big 10 championship. If they play Iowa, it would be on the same day as the Big 10 championship. While a 6th game and win would help their chances of making the CFP, there is no minimum game requirement to make the playoffs. They will get in with 5 games anyway but would be fun to see them play Iowa.

Exactly. I'd imagine they've been given the proper assurances they don't need the Big 10 championship.

I'm just waiting for the Big 10 to be forced to look a conference member in the eye and basically say that their university is not as important as Ohio State. Whether that is Indiana, teams of whatever game they need to cancel to get an opponent for OSU, or Nebraska by adjusting the exact rule they were told couldn't be adjusted. This is gonna be good, so grab a seat and popcorn, sit back and enjoy.

I mean... the Big 10 is absolutely going to either change the rules, or scrap someone else's game to get OSU a game this weekend, no? And ESPN/CFP will lap it up and get the Buckeyes in the playoffs. No standards in that league. Would love for them to surprise us for a change.
Would be stunned if this didn't happen.

All these teams ahead of us in the ranking just keep cancelling games, some for covid, some for not, some for kinda covid, then deciding to change their rules to suit their narrative, all just seems convenient to me.
Half these teams are just trying to play the system instead of the game. It sucks that there wasn't some form of actual consistency, hell maybe if the NCAA would have put some guidelines in place that all conferences needed to follow would have been nice.

I have seen that a couple times now. I think the Purdue/Indiana game is in jeopardy, and indiana may be available. My question is why would Indiana want to play Ohio State again? They'd basically be costing themselves a berth in the Big 19 title game. I don't see why Indiana would have any interest in that

Nebraska wanted to play a non-conference opponent. That's the difference here.
Yeah well I would be pissed if I was Nebraska, they were told those are the rules and thats it, and the rules cant be changed. Now they changed the rules once, and now they want to change it again.
I would be a No vote If I was Nebby's AD on any changes. Screw em. You made the rules, you refused to adjust them, and they even said remember this when OSU runs into the same problem, now they can live with their decisions.
Frankly 5-6 games to me isnt enough to make the playoff anyway if everyone in the playoff has played 10.
A lot can happen in those 4 or 5 games, we all know a top 4 team does get upset playing the games, all the time. But when they don't play they are just assumed to win them all. No I dont think so.

Big 10 can do one of three things:

If any other team cancels for this week they can reschedule OSU to play whoever the opponent would have been (regardless if they have already played them or not) and they get into the CCG. I'm sure this is what they are hoping for.

They can cancel another game this week to get OSU an opponent (likely a team they haven't played yet). The optics of this would be terrible, but I wouldn't rule it out.

OSU doesn't play this week and they schedule a special game the same day as the CCG, likely against Iowa. I think this is the most likely scenario unless an opponent opens up. NW and Indiana get to play in the title game, OSU gets another game, presumably against a ranked team which probably gets them in the playoffs, and the opponent gets a bonus game against OSU. There isn't anyone inside the Big 10 that would be that upset.
