OSU v UM Axed

Yeah well I would be pissed if I was Nebraska, they were told those are the rules and thats it, and the rules cant be changed. Now they changed the rules once, and now they want to change it again.

They were told no non-conference games. Nothing has changed there.

I guess it all comes down to whether Ohio State is comfortable being in the CFB Playoff without playing another game. Personally, I have no doubt they'd find a way to put them in. They don't need the Big 10 Championship game.

So right now it's Northwestern vs. Indian in the B1G championship, correct?

This is how it is going to work out. NW and Indiana play in the championship game. Winner gets a NY6 game, as per the rules. tOSU gets to go to the national championship series, because there are no actual rules about number of games played there. Big 10 gets 2 teams into the NY6.

I would be a No vote If I was Nebby's AD on any changes. Screw em. You made the rules, you refused to adjust them, and they even said remember this when OSU runs into the same problem, now they can live with their decisions.
Frankly 5-6 games to me isnt enough to make the playoff anyway if everyone in the playoff has played 10.
A lot can happen in those 4 or 5 games, we all know a top 4 team does get upset playing the games, all the time. But when they don't play they are just assumed to win them all. No I dont think so.

Nebraska would only have grounds to be ****** if they let Ohio State go find a non-con game.

Well they said the rules are the rules so.... either they can change the rule for the non con game or not, or they can change the rule for the number of games to qualify for the championship or not. You either can change the rules or you cant.
That is my point.

Big 10 can do one of three things:

If any other team cancels for this week they can reschedule OSU to play whoever the opponent would have been (regardless if they have already played them or not) and they get into the CCG. I'm sure this is what they are hoping for.

They can cancel another game this week to get OSU an opponent (likely a team they haven't played yet). The optics of this would be terrible, but I wouldn't rule it out.

OSU doesn't play this week and they schedule a special game the same day as the CCG, likely against Iowa. I think this is the most likely scenario unless an opponent opens up. NW and Indiana get to play in the title game, OSU gets another game, presumably against a ranked team which probably gets them in the playoffs, and the opponent gets a bonus game against OSU. There isn't anyone inside the Big 10 that would be that upset.
The Big 10 announced long ago when they announced they would play the season after all that they were going to have +1 games for each team. W1 v. E1(= big 10 championship game), W2 v. E2, W3 v. E3, etc.

I think NW cancels their game vs Illinois this weekend, allowing the Illini to travel to Columbus. NW ensures OSU as their opponent in the Big 10 Championship and essentially locks up a Rose Bowl trip - if they beat OSU they won’t make the playoff but will be the Big 10 representative for the Rose Bowl. Lose to OSU and they will be the first Big 10 team selected to the Rose Bowl.

Like I said, they said the rules cant be changed. So for Nebby they couldnt change the rules to allow them to play a non con.
So now they cant all the sudden say well we can change the rules for how many games need to be played or how the selection is done.
My point was you either cant change the rules or you cant. You cant tell one University the rules are set in stone and cant be changed once they are set. Then tell another they can change the rules to suit them.

Y'all remember this scene outside the B1G offices? No one was even inside at the time. I agree, "Let Iowa and OSU play!"

Right, as much as we all hate Nebraska, and love that they are getting screwed in the B1G. It really shows how that conference works.
And I remember how they and others said the Big 12 was bad for Texas being in control. You know to me that B1G is so much more of a mess than the Big 12 ever was. The only thing they have going for them is the big TV money, but the more bone headed decisions they keep making they could fast track themselves to be on par with the PAC 12.

Indiana is currently slated to go to the CCG for the opportunity to be Big Ten champ for the first time in 52 years. And their conference is working to deny them the opportunity at the behest of OSU.

I'd be pissed if I was them, but I'd also be preparing my butts.

Big 10 spin machine in full gear at this point in time. Going to sell it as thinking of the best for the conference financially. OSU in CFP is big money for the conference shared with all programs. Money is critical during financial crisis brought on by COVID. Other schools will be strong armed into buying in and allowing OSU to do as they please.

At this point the dream scenario would be to watch the Big 10 suffer the optics **** show of forcing OSU in the CCG followed by OSU losing to NW
