OSU v UM Axed

Indiana is currently slated to go to the CCG for the opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl for the first time in 52 years. And their conference is working to deny them the opportunity at the behest of OSU.

I'd be pissed if I was them, but I'd also be preparing my butts.

Makes me wonder if Indiana has cause for a lawsuit on the matter. They probably wouldnt do it, but theyre on the verge of taking real losses with real financial value just because the conference wants to prop up Ohio State, against its own rules.

I thought I'd read somewhere the decision on the 6 game requirement was unanimous and would require unanimous consent to get it overturned? What incentive would Indiana have to vote in favor? And why wouldn't Nebraska vote against it just to be ****s?

As much as I know it wouldn't happen ... ever. One could make a case for an Ohio State vs Iowa State game. Winner would get a huge playoff boost. Wouldn't impact our title game.

I'm thinking if they allow osu to go out of conference all hell breaks loose.

This is how it is going to work out. NW and Indiana play in the championship game. Winner gets a NY6 game, as per the rules. tOSU gets to go to the national championship series, because there are no actual rules about number of games played there. Big 10 gets 2 teams into the NY6.
Or Ohio State plays Michigan next weekend too.

It's almost like having a plan and spending months solidifying the plan while allowing individual schools to also prepare themselves for a barely abbreviated season that starts at a normal time is better than canceling, forcing schools and coaches to spend their time rallying the conference to play and then hastily putting together a season while no one was bought into playing said season. Go Big Ten. You guys did a bang up job.

OSU in CFP is big money for the conference shared with all programs.

Each power 5 conference already gets a giant base amount (~$66M), regardless of who's in the CFP/NY6. A CFP team means an extra ~$6M for the conference, and an NY6 team is worth ~$4M.

Ohio State in the CFP would net $400K per B1G school (plus $400K for the league office, if they take an equal share).
