o-line is the best weve seen come through
We have 9 starters who could play any position on the OL
This is the most together team we’ve ever had
Strangely I’m not feeling anything about this team. I remember how hyped I was after winning the Fiesta Bowl with some great seniors coming back.
Just feeling no hype about this season at all. Could be an outstanding team and win 9-10 games. They could also show the same inconsistency we’ve seen during Campbell's tenure and end up 6-6 or, god forbid, 5-7.
Maybe I’ve finally learned not to buy into all the “this is the best o-line ever” stuff.
Just want to see it on the field. A 4-0 start and I’ll start drinking the koolaid again.

1. At some point the Fiesta Bowl season needs to be taken into the context of a lot of variables that helped that out. Aside from some wins looking better due to opponents having Covid issues, they got to play a marginal Oregon team that essentially backed into the game.
You could flip about 8 plays in '20 and '21 and they flip overall records.
2. Outside of '16 CMC has had one losing season ('22) that was *this* close to a pretty good 7-5ish type of record.
3. '22 started 3-0 and then proved that that kind of start doesn't mean much in the grand scheme.
It's been a solid program under CMC, possibly as solid as it's ever been, and I feel confident that we'll see a 7-8ish win type of season.
Cue up the highlights of receivers running skeleton routes in shells or just helmets and someone expecting them to catch for 1,000 yards.

The Covid season was such an anomaly and the more we get away from it the more obvious it is. I’m not calling it a sham as some will call it but it definitely had some unrepeatable circumstances. Indiana was also a top 10 team, let that sink in.
Outside of that year CMC hasn’t won 8 games since 2018. Which is not a knock on him since our program is significantly better than ALL of Iowa State’s history. I just hope the pitchforks and torches dont come out if we go 7-5.
And FWIW imo that Fiesta Bowl game was one of the most complete ISU games I can remember. Oregon was young but FAST. It ended up being a fun season for sure.
Even with so much returning in '21 they were still limited in some areas and I'll just never get assumption that a win in December/January automatically means the next season 8-9 months later is better.
