Welcome back to On That Note, CF’s weekly music frenzy, hosted by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.

This week, the focus is a nod to Father’s Day. Two ways to contribute:
  • Post songs with a father-oriented theme or that have a notable reference to dads in the lyrics.
  • Personal angle: Songs your dad likes (or liked, for fathers who are no longer with us).
I'll follow up with a couple of mine.

Is the seven horny brothers and a drunk-ass dad

Happy are you sad, want to shoot your dad

You told me a hundred times how your father left and he's gone
But I wish you wouldn't call me daddy
When we're gettin' it on

What did her daddy do?

Personal Angle My dad mainly liked country music, so when an occasional outlier arose, it was memorable. Regardless of genre, when he liked a song, he often said “it’s pretty,” in reference to the melody, and he frequently told me he enjoyred songs that made him tap his toe.

Here’s a rock ’n roll song that met the second criterion.

Father, I'm gonna take your daughter out tonight
I'm gonna show her my world
Oh father

Father, Do you wanna bang heads with me
Do you wanna feel everything
Oh father

One of my first memories of my dad...he had this recorded via VHS and would have it on. I've debated trying to find it and give it to him. Pretty cool little band jammin' out.
