Ok, this sounds bad, but I seriously thought she was hard of hearing or deaf when I heard whenever, wherever for the first time. Just the style of her voice did not compute in my brain. She sounded like Marlee Matlin trying to sing a pop song.

She does have a very unusual tone. And there's almost a nasal quality to it. Or maybe it's more accurate to say she almost sounds congested. It doesn't bother me, but I can see/hear why it wouldn't be for everyone.
