I still have in my brain that Billy Joel's Piano Man is "son can you play me a melody" instead of "son can you play me a memory" even though I know it isnt right.

Here I am
Rock you like a hurricane

I hear and like better;

Here I am
Rocking like a hurricane

Here's one I like my hearing better than the real one:

Have You Ever Seen the Rain - CCR
Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know!
It's been calmin' for sometime

Actually it's:
Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know!
It's been comin' for sometime

Fair Warning!

I've told this to three different people who have EACH AND EVERY ONE confirmed they can no longer hear this without hearing these lyrics.

It's obvious in the original Ben E. King version that the line is:
"...and the land is dark
And the moon, is the only light we'll see."

But I SWEAR in John's cover version he is singing.

"...and the land is dark,
And the moon is the only flying *****." (Edit: CW censored me. Another name for a cat)

In the video it even LOOKS like that's what he's saying.

Venus - Shocking Blue

I heard:
"Her weapons were her crystal eyes
Making every man she made
Like a seductress, she was
Got what no one else had"

Actually lyrics:
'Her weapons were her crystal eyes
Making every man mad
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no one else had"

Elton John, kind of well known for mumbling the lyrics. Rocket Man..

I heard: "Rocket man, burning up the fuel of everyone."

It's actually:"Rocket man, burning out his fuse up here alone."

It was the 70's energy crisis. Everybody was fixating on energy consumption!

I have (or "had") several in Rocket Man. The funniest is probably:
Misheard: “And my poor mammy thinks I am at home”
Actual: “I’m not the man they think I am at home”

I'm almost positive that I hear "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Fried Chicken!" at the very end of this song.

Lyric: "Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter"
What I hear: "Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back butter"

Minor, but still incorrect
Misheard: “And kicked me out of my home”
Actual: “And kicked me out on my own”

Edit -- Additional one, I've trained myself to hear it correctly, but I heard it this way for a long time:
Misheard: Ain't no sound but the sound of speed.
Actual: Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet.

Pretty much the whole song has always sounded like gibberish to me and I always wondered how people sang along. Live versions are way more clear.

Lyrics:
Unsealed, on a porch a letter sat
Then you said, "I wanna leave it again"
Once I saw her on a beach of weathered sand
And on the sand I wanna leave her again
On a weekend I wanna wish it all away, yeah
And they called and I said that I'll go
And I said that I'll call out again
And the reason I ought ta leave her calm, I know
I said, "I don't know whether I'm the boxer or the bag"
Oh yeah, can you see them, out on the porch?
Yeah, but they don't wave
I see them 'round the front way, yeah
And I know, and I know I don't wanna stay
Make me cry
I see oh, I don't know why there's something else
I want to, wanna drum it all away
I said, "I don't, I don't know whether I was the boxer or the bag"
Oh yeah, can you see them, out the on porch?
Yeah, but they don't wave
I see them 'round the front way
And I know, and I know I don't want to stay at all
I don't want to stay
I don't want to stay
I don't want to stay
I don't, I don't want to stay

Was long rumored to be 'Excuse me while I kiss this guy!'

Real lyric is 'Kiss the sky'.

Spill The Wine....Eric Burdon and War

There are couple of ones in this.....

I'd hear "Do I dig that girl" but it was "Spill the wine dig that girl."

One of the refrains is "Spill the wine take that pearl" but there were so many that were "spill the wine dig that girl" that I thought they all ended with "dig that girl"

I think this was a John Lennon mondegreen.

He obviously heard: "Smallcoat took the message and wrote it on the wall." instead of the actual lyric: "My uncle took the message and wrote it on the wall." At about the 24 second mark.
