On That Note: Busted Rhymes

Another rhymes-with-self. (Although, I admit, options are limited; queasy? sleazy?)

Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues
And you know it don't come easy
You don't have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy

Alice Cooper-no effort:
School’s Out
“We can’t even think of a word to rhyme!”

Reminds me of "Take the Skinheads Bowling" -- after a failed rhyme, they deliberately gave up:
"Some people say that bowling alleys got big lanes
Some people say that bowling alleys all look the same
There's not a line that goes here that rhymes with anything"

Can't believe this one hasn't gotten mentioned yet. I had a hard time not just pasting the entire song because the whole thing is forced rhymes, but I narrowed it down to my three favorites:

1. When you take a sip
You buzz like a hornet
Billy Shakespeare wrote
A whole bunch of sonnets

2. There was a good man
Named Paul Revere
I feel much better baby
When you're near

3. You're the best girl
That I ever did see
The great Larry Bird, jersey thirty-three

Lyrics are so bad it's hard not to respect it.

The one that spurred the discussion was Miley Cyrus:

This is all so crazy,
Everybody seems so famous.

I swear she's trying to make that rhyme.

Also everything being 'like, yeah' with nothing compared or rhymed.

This seems to be frequent in a lot of songs now...couldn't come up with a rhyme so just added 'yeah' or 'eh' to the line.

Len - Steal My Sunshine

"Now the fuzzy stare from not being there on a confusing morning week
Impaired my tribal lunar speak"

Dinosaur and Diana Shore :)

You can find me in a rubbery boat
Down in Mexico you can send me a note
Care of a old buffalo singing the dinosaur
I've played Buffalo, I recall Dinah Shore
I'm just a buffalo singing the dinosaur blues

Jay-Z

Not one rhyme in this song. He's an MC that makes millions off not rhyming.

Anything you want girl
I'll bet you never seen it like this (uh oh, y'all know what this is)
Just stay up on that floor girl (for all the girls taking)
And I'll grant all your wishes (amateur strip classes for exercise)
You know, you know, you know (this one's for you)
You know, you know, you know
You hot
You know, you know, you know
You hot
You know, you know, you know
Especially when you bounce, bounce (we all just taking like a Magic City, Club Rolex)
I really like it when you bounce, bounce
I like it when you bounce, bounce (Sue's Rendezvous)
I like it when you bounce, bounce
Oh, oh
Ooh you so nasty
Amateur pole dancing
Come and get this cash from me
They call me rain man
She tried to rain dance
Money so long it will drown you girl
Buried under so much stacks
They had to pull back about fifty thou
Before they found ya girl
I brought book bags of that bankroll
I'm a D boy, baby they know
I'm an original D boy
They go bankrupt if they try to keep up
No roof on my car but I got mirrors on the ceiling
I'll spread bread on the bed
Ever had sex on a million
Tell me
Anything you want girl
I'll bet you never seen it like this
Just stay up on that floor girl
And I'll grant all your wishes
You know, you know, you know
You hot
You know, you know, you know
You hot
You know, you know, you know
Especially when you bounce, bounce
I really like it when you bounce, bounce
I see money when you bounce, bounce
I like it when you bounce, bounce
Oh, oh

Here's a forced rhyme that has bugged me for years. The Bible has nothing to do with the storyline (from what I can tell), suggesting its only purpose is to provide a convenient rhyme, but it doesn't even do that:

Rocky Raccoon checked into his room
Only to find Gideon's Bible
Rocky had come, equipped with a gun
To shoot off the legs of his rival

A non-rhyme annoyance: Rocky burst in, and grinning a grin.

I owned Limp Bizkit albums. And wore a baseball cap Fred Durst style for quite a few years. I'm not proud of it.

'Rage' over a bad relationship is about as real as a three dollar bill.

Bolded is also lyrics from a song on that album.

Think of Shatner reading these off and it's likely better.

I did it all for the nookie
Come on
The nookie
Come on
So you can take that cookie
And Stick it up your, yeah!
Stick it up your, yeah!
Stick it up your, yeah!

Heard this one the other day. It has several questionable rhymes. But this one is really cringe-worthy.

"My Girlfriend's run off with my car,
And gone back to her ma and pa."

He kind of puts an "r" sound on the end of "ma" and "pa".

The amount of different rhymes for panderin' he has in this song is pretty impressive.

The f bomb occurs in this song multiples times. Just a heads up.
