Olympic Wrestling

You said the guy who in your opinion is the best in the world not winning gold is not a big deal. I don’t understand that thought process.
.Not sure you understand wrestling if you don’t understand that sometimes the better wrestler loses.

I’m not sure how you watched that match and thought Lee was the better wrestler.
I don’t think one match tells me everything. At this level the margins are tight and a lot of little things need to happen.

1. I think Spencer’s coaches failed him again. He had no game plan. Higuxhi had a great one.

2. Spencer was in a couple of good scoring positions. He gets on top 1 time and the match could easily be over.

I also think Dake is a better wrestler than his opponent, even though he just lost an extremely lopsided match to him. Japan appeared better prepared today.

I'm disappointed, but simply because there were a lot of winnable matches that didn't go our way.

We're still among the best wrestling nations in the world, even with a disappointing (to us) showing.
I'm happy to see some medals and expect more to come.

The sky certainly isn't falling, but it feels like something has been off with the MFS guys this cycle.
It's hard to fault the OTC development guys when pretty much all of the men have just had their RTC coaches in their corner. Maybe the national team needs to spend more time together at OTC camps throughout the year. Who knows?

Odds are very long for Zain. His weight class is absolutely loaded. That means, realistically, Snyder is the US’s last chance at gold. Last time the US didn’t pick up a gold medal in men’s FS was 1968.

Spencer couldn’t get in on any leg attacks. I’m not sure he was in a couple good scoring positions. He got two points on push outs.

Was Lee’s mom in the crowd? I remember the NCAA’s where she was so upset she crushed her glasses.
