Offshore Line on NDSU game

We played a BYU team that was better than you are this year 41-17. It was 27-17 with ten minutes left in the fourth...

That '05 UNI team caught lightning in a bottle and even though they played in the title game they weren't nearly as talented as the teams from the last two years.

Look, Iowa is definitely a heavy, heavy favorite and more than likely will win this game, but it won't be as easy as Hawk fans want it to be. The 'hot start' scenario that I laid out would HAVE to happen for UNI to have a chance. Don't discount us just because we are FCS...

Aren't hawk fans and Panther fans the same people?? What kind of crazy is it when you argue with yourself?

This Panther fan is certainly not a Hawk fan... I am a UNI fan since birth/alum.

There are a ton of those Hawk/Panther fans out there, and I accept that. I am not exactly representative of some those posters over on PN that are your "UNI or Nothing" Crowd!

You may find this hard to believe, but I'm a Sports fan....

Root for Iowa in the Big 10
Root for ISU in the Big 12
Root for UNI in the MVC

When they they play each other, that's when it gets fun....

So does that mean you root for the Bison when they're not playing the Sioux?

Can't say I root against Iowa, but have a really hard time rooting for them. Funny thing is I used too.. Some of their fans are what have turned me off.

This team might gel with some of the inexperienced JUCO talent by week three or four but to expect us to beat anyone 45-7 or 45-10 is the kool-aid talking.

I am as realistic as they come regarding our chances in the Big XII, but a 20 to 30 point victory of NDSU is realistic.

We heard the same talk before last season's opener against SDSU and we beat them by 27 -- and as the rest of the season showed, we were a very bad football team. We have addressed some of our weaknesses and should be better this year. But let's say we're not -- let's say we're playing at last years level. It wasn't good, but it was good enough to beat SDSU by 27. And SDSU is better than NDSU.

I remember how bad I felt about Chizik when he lost to Kent State. NDSU would make it an instinutional holiday if they were to beat Kent State; 20 years from now they would be on message boards bragging how their first born was named after the QB who led them to victory over the vaunted Golden Flash. Count me in as someone that would be beyond concerned if ISU were to lose to NDSU.

If we lose to NDSU we will go 0-12. They are the worst team on our schedule by a huge margin.

If Ames does nor win by more thn 10, i woill be avery bad start.

If Iowa beats UNI by 21 or more, I will be surprised as UNI usually has a decent defense.

Let's start the games now.

Monty is spot on. With all the predict our record polls we have had on here lately, it seems that the vast majority of us have the team finishing in the 4 to 6 wins range. There is no way we even get close to that without beating NDSU. And I would even say there is no way we get there without beating NDSU by at least a couple TDs. We lose this game and 0-12 here we come. If this game is close, 1-11 here we come.

I honestly don't understand why there is as much doubt about this as there is on the board. I know we are ISU and we have a history, but we had an awful team last year and beat up on SDSU, and SDSU is a better team than NDSU. If we are any better, or even equal to what we were last year, this one shouldn't be close.

NDSU was lucky to schedule some sandwich games when lowlevel FBS teams were likely to overlook them. If SDSU game had fallen between Colorado and Missouri last year it would have been a closer game. They have not had the pleasure recently of playing a game against a superior team who won't be overlooking them. It is the first game of season for new coach and players will want to impress new staff that they made correct choice in starting them. ISU is about 7 points a quarter better, should win by at least 28 unless coach calls off dogs late.

Arkansas State.

I know Indiana isn't on your slate this year, but we are better than they are.

And, sorry CFers, I think we would give ISU a pretty good run for their money as well. BTW- I hope you beat NDSU by five touchdowns!!

Indiana is on the schedule, and UNI would probably beat them. At this point, I would even favor UNI in a game against ISU.

I'll say this - UNI is a far better opponent for Iowa than either Maine or FIU were last year.

Yeah, BYU was great last season....losing to a 7-5 Arizona team in their bowl game didn't expose them or anything. If you are expecting 09 Iowa to be worse than the 2nd/3rd place team in the MWC, you are going to be VERY disappointed come game time.

Again, no way is UNI that much better than their 05 team that went to the FCS championship game, and 09 Iowa will be better than 05 Iowa. Iowa covered 21 in 05, and they will easily do that in 09.

Obviously anything can happen in football, but you are making an upset sound WAY more likely than it actually is. I'd give UNI a 5% chance to win this game (if EVERYTHING went their way), and maybe a 25%-30% chance to cover 21. But most likely, they'll do neither.

I'll stand by my prediction: Iowa wins it 42-6 (UNI might keep it close for a quarter or half, then Iowa pulls away late).

I wouldn't be stunned to see a VERY similar season for Iowa in 2009 as 2005. 8-4. Mark it dude.

Way to go out on a limb, as that is what most fans and pre-season predictions are saying as well, along with Iowa finishing 4th or 5th.

The d-line is in better shape going into this season than it was in 2005, so that might be worth an extra win.

iowa state should beat ndsu by 1`7 points.

iowa will be lucky to beat the panthers-the squawks will not have their head in the game. they wilol be looking forward to the next week and will be flat against the panthers. the panthers will really be goosed up for the iowa game and may upset the EIU SQUAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it true that Clayborn got his trial moved conveniently until after the season?
