Pulisic gave every other team an instruction manual on how to frustrate him and take him off his game.
I agree. What worries me about this new strategy against Pulisic is the US clearly doesn't have an answer for this. At Dortmund, they have other prolific players that Pulisic can fit in and find his niche. I think Arena could use this like a double team is used in bball, just need a few more key playmakers to make some plays.

spent 45 minutes trying to find a stream for the game, finally got it going in about the 73rd minute. Happy to see the boys get a result, but from the sounds of it, it was not deserved. Which is a good thing, I guess, that you could get a result on the road while not playing your best. But hearing about who struggled, and seeing that Gonzalez mis-play is not encouraging for our CB options.

Loved the Acosta free-kick try, which eventually lead to the Wood goal (which was a slick chest down, btw). Idk why, but every time I have watched the US play recently I can't take my eyes off of Acosta.

My go-to next team is England. But I also really like to watch Messi -- so Argentina. I haven't been following UEFA qualifiers so I don't know how England is doing.

Argentina is a bit of a mess right now and South America is crazy in general. They are currently in 5th in CONMEBOL which is their inter-continental play in spot. Right now Chile wouldn't even qualify for the WC while Peru is in.

That game last night was a mess. I don't even know where to start.

Which makes getting a result pretty damn nice considering....

Just glad we have a month to hopefully iron some kinks out to be able to finish strong. The World Cup will be awesome, but it will be more awesome for me with the US in.

stepping back from the ledge here are a few take aways:

Bruce Arena is over his head. Starting all MLS plus Pulisic and Gonzalez was a disaster. Stop trying to force it Bruce.

The complete lack of creativity is astonishing. Other than CP, we have no creativity. Formation needs to change. The long ball to try and hold up isn't going to work.

Brooks and Yedlin need to get healthy fast.

An average uninspired Chandler is still better than Zusi or DMB. Cameron can play RB, i'm sure you can flop Yedlin over there or let FJ play there. Whatever the case may be, last night was embarrassing.

Arena is trying to prove to everyone that he is smarter than they are. Play a 4231, play the Europeans, get out of your own way. We are lucky to even have a chance, and it isn't because we are deserving, its because our qualifying group is trash.

Wow none of the USMNT fanboys on Fanatic posted on this previously. I am not shocked. Even tho Alexi was pointing out players and coaches, he easily could have roped a few of you into this discussion as well.

It's taken me a few days to get over that bare bottomed spanking that Alexi delivered to USMNT fanboys, but in Yanks news Yedlin was back in the starting 11 for Newcastle today. Unfortunately, Cameron left last week's match with Stoke and is out for at least a couple of weeks with an injury making him seriously questionable for those last Hex qualifiers.

Lalas is a twat. And severely overrated. He made a career off of Thomas Dooley being pulled from obscurity and making Lalas look competent.

Fun fact: Dooley is the coach of the Philippines I think.

The US has another teenager breaking into the Bundesliga. Weston McKennie started Schalke's midweek game against Bayern Munich and is starting for them again this morning on FS2.

Geoff Cameron was back in Stoke's starting 11 today which is massive news since he's been out with an injury and the last 2 Hex qualifiers are next weekend. Yedlin is also back playing with Newcastle.

The roster is out. 26 called into camp, Benny fan boys rejoice!!!!

U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION (Club; WCQ Caps/Goals):
GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Atlanta United FC; 15/0), Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids; 37/0), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; 0/0)

DEFENDERS (9): DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo; 35/6), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City; 12/1), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City/ENG; 24/2), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca/MEX; 16/0), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana/MEX; 6/1), Tim Ream (Fulham/ENG; 6/0), Jorge Villafaña (Santos Laguna/MEX; 4/0), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United/ENG; (8/0), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City; 20/3)

MIDFIELDERS (10): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas; 5/0), Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution; 0/0), Paul Arriola (D.C. United; 5/1), Alejandro Bedoya (Philadelphia Union; 9/0), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC/CAN; 38/7), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City; 6/0), Dax McCarty (Chicago Fire; 0/0), Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers; 9/0), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund/GER; 11/5), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy; 4/1)

FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC/CAN; 39/16), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC; 41/18), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes; 0/0), Bobby Wood (Hamburg/GER; 12/4)

Arena decided that Fabian Johnson wasn't one of our best 26. He hasn't played well in a US shirt in a while, but he should still be on this squad (especially over f'n Gyasi Zardes).

Starting to get excited for this match. I have been seeing the ads all over ESPN this weekend.
Definitely the most important 2 matches coming up for the USMNT in recent memory. I desperately hope they play better than they did at Honduras. Such a terrible performance and we are BEYOND lucky to get that point at the end. 2 games and 6 points = on to Russia.

So of course there's a rather large match for the USMNT tomorrow night, but if anybody is interested in the Baby Yanks the U17s kick off the U17 World Cup tomorrow morning in India. I believe their matches are being broadcast on FS2.
