***Official USMNT Thread***

Well, we're probably going to need him sooner or later since Howard is probably going to retire internationally after the gold cup/maybe CA centernario (He's retiring in 2018) and Rimando is for sure in his last cycle. Doesn't hurt to invite him to camp.

Would be hard to get that #1 spot from Guzan I'd imagine since Guzan, IMO, is a clone of Howard.

Uh, to add another twist to the Landon Donovan getting cut drama,

He scored two goals today and broke the league record for Career goals.

Yeah, that doesn't help Klinsmann's case

I am glad we're getting through this media crapfest now rather than right before the WC starts. Good call on the early cuts.

True, but Philly isn't Portugal, Germany, or Ghana either. Don't get me wrong, I really like Donovan, I'm glad he broke the record and I personally wish he was on the squad. But I also trust Klinsmann's judgement on this more than random people on the internet (no one in this thread, bc people here have been very reasonable imo), and I think it means less than people will try to make it.

Just a reminder that the first of 3 pre-WC friendlies is tonight. USMNT v Azerbaijan on ESPN2 at 9 pm central I believe.

Klinsmann going with the 4-4-2 diamond again tonight:

Altidore-Dempsey
Bradley
Bedoya-Zusi
Jones
Beasley-Besler-Cameron-Fab. Johnson

If Jones and Bradley are going to be on the field at the same time, I much prefer this setup where Jones is without a doubt the anchor freeing Bradley up to roam & wreak havoc.

to be fair, we have always looked a mess for the first of the tune-up games before a world cup. I think they pretty much train a bunch before so everyone's legs are tired for this first game.

And Brek Shea is training with Orlando, which debuts next year as well. He's rumored to make a return to the MLS from Stoke City.

NYRB and Colorado could also be in the mix.

(Should we make a MLS thread?)
