I'm gonna be honest, there are so many different leagues and tournaments I lose track of what is what.

It's like boxing with like 5 federations all giving out a belt. I have no idea what it means anymore.

The upcoming semi-final against Qatar is going to be a good test for this US squad. They won the Asian Cup in 2019 defeating both South Korea and Japan in the knockout round to win.

I’ve caught bits of a couple of their matches in this Gold Cup and they are a fun watch. They’re not afraid to have the ball and have some good attacking players.

Let’s go USA!!! This will be a good test against Qatar. Hopefully, we can shut down their quick counters and take advantage of their defensive lapses.

I like that Hoppe is skilled enough that he can offer an attacking threat playing all over the field, but I really think we need to take Dike out and move Hoppe into the 9. I trust him much more to make something out of the few chances that we are going to get. Moore had a great ball into Dike and his first touch just rolls the ball all the way back to the keeper. Throw on Gioacchini wide and move Hoppe central.

Or let Lletget play the free role that Hoppe is basically doing and add Williamson (another player who can get on the ball and drive) in the middle.

PK and subs have brought this game to life.

I like the idea of Berhalter giving Dike another chance tonight even though he wasn’t great in the last game, but he’s clearly not right with that shoulder. Our attacking subs really have kicked our attack in the ass.

This has been bugging me for a while, but I just couldn’t figure out who Matt Turner looks like. He’s totally Thomas Middleditch’s super tall brother.

Saw in a recent article that for the upcoming bout with Mexico that the USMNT would still be competing with pretty much the B/C Squad, whereas Mexico will be operating mostly at full A team strength. Is that true? Boy, if so, we could be in for a world of hurt.

Yeah it’s basically true. We have basically no first team players and they have a lot of their A team players. But Mexico also looked bad against a Canada team without their top 3 players so who knows what could happen.

That is true about the Canada game last night. They barely eeked it out, so there is hope to be found in that. Still hard to feel too confident. Ultimately, I think we should consider it a positive that we were able to make it all the way to the Gold Cup finals with our B/C squad. There were plenty of times I really didn't think it would happen.
