Panama, Canada, and El Salvador all came out victorious in their WC qualifying ties so they advance to the final round of qualifying to join the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Honduras.

The US will open the Octagonal in September with their 3 matches over that window being:

Sep 2 @ El Salvador
Sep 5 Canada
Sep 8 @Honduras

"Alright guys, new strategy. There are bound to be a couple player on their team with ADD or that are possibly susceptible to seizures..."

Can't say I'm a big fan. Much prefer the old old away ones. In fact, I just ordered one of the old ones yesterday in preparation for World Cup season. Its too bad of all the years they choose one I'm not a big fan of, it will be for a World Cup year when they are on display for everyone.

This was one of those agreed upon a while ago but have to wait until he turns 18 agreements, but we’ve got another US teen headed to Germany.

Clark is going to finish the current season with NYRB and then move to Leipzig.

I think Dike will make the move overseas at the conclusion of the MLS season as well. I really want to see Dike become our version of Lukaku.

I see a deal like Clark’s. He’ll get a move during this upcoming transfer window but he’ll stay until the season is over

If he becomes anything close to Lukaku that is a win for the US haha, but I think you're right, the only way he progresses that way is a move overseas.

Hoping for big things from him and Weah as they get older.

idk why but continually feel that Sargent is holding out offensive attacks back.

The Gold Cup kicked off tonight with T&T holding Mexico for a 0-0 draw. The US plays tomorrow night (Sunday) against Haiti.

Good time at the Gold Cup tonight. I would have loved to have seen us go over the top of Haiti's back line and be more aggressive offensively, but I'll take the win.

I'm clearly partial to Busio here in KC, but I really like what he brings to the middle of the field.

Side note, I passed Kei Kamara and his family on the way to our seats. That is a big dude.

Thoughts from last night’s match:

Yueill was his typical meh self. I hope if nothing else, this tournament convinces Gregg that we need to move on from the idea that Yueill is a capable backup for Tyler Adams. Give me Acosta there, or maybe Busio can play his way into that spot over the course of the tournament.

We also need to stop acting like Jonathan Lewis is an option as a starting winger. Like Yueill, he’s had plenty of opportunities with these B squad setups and hasn’t impressed. Let’s just play any of our strikers as wise attackers at this point and see if they can do a job. Pick 3 of Dike, Gioacchini, Hoppe, and Zardes and let’s see what happens.

I thought Zimmerman and Robinson looked ok as our CB pair. I’m curious to see how they play when we get a shot at the better sides. Shaq Moore had a really good game I thought as a late starting addition for Reggie Cannon.

Completely agree on Yueill. He was reacting all night.

And I know Vines got the goal, but he really looked uncomfortable after that. He was stuck in a pass-back loop, rarely looking for an opportunity to advance.

I'm curious to know what Busio's shot looked like on tv, because that sucker was a laser in person.

I know they showed a behind-the-net angle on the broadcast as well, but I can't find it. If it's a couple feet to the left or right it's going in. The keeper had all he could handle keeping it out right above his head.

US vs Martinique kicks off here in a few minutes. The lineup will make fans much happier:

Hoppe-Dike

Nice cross from Hoppe finds Dike’s head for the first goal. The whole play was set up by a great diagonal thru ball by Williamson into the corner.

Does it really matter if we win this match? Is there a big difference between facing Mexico in the semi's vs finals?

If you want to win the tournament you’re going to have to beat Mexico at some point most likely, so maybe there’s not a massive difference strategically. Although avoiding Mexico until the final potentially gives this team one extra match to play with actual pressure on the line which isn’t nothing. Most of these guys won’t be involved much in WCQ, but getting an extra look at players like Dike could give them a chance to break into that qualifying roster and Lord knows we could use a striker who’s banging in goals.

Heading to KC shortly for the USA vs. Canada match this afternoon!

Have fun at the match!!! Sending out positive vibes to the soccer gods hoping that you’ll get a lineup that doesn’t include Jackson Yueill! C’mon Gregg, I know it took you a while to move on from Will Trapp, but I have faith you can do it again.
