I'll say something like 35-17 clones. It'll be close at halftime (14-10 or something like that) then we pull away with two TDs in the third quarter, tack on one more in the fourth, and UNI gets a garbage TD to close it out. I have no reasoning for any of this, its how I would like to see it play out.

I think that our OL is finally up to the task. Not afraid of their DBs at all as long as Richardson has time. I expect they'll be scared to death of our passing game and start blitzing. And that's when SBR takes off for long runs. Mangino isn't stupid enough to run the zone read over and over and get the QB knocked out.

On the other side of the ball, I expect UNI to score some, but also turn it over some. Their OL will have their hands full with Tucker, Pierson, Taylor and Thomas. I expect ISU to be in the backfield a lot.

My prediction is 34-20 ISU.

I think CPR knows his job is on the line if he doesn't come out kick some butt this year.

The schedule is set up for a great start. Next week, ISU 45 UNI 3............That just gets the ball rolling for the hawks.

As a homer, I WANT this to be the case

I so, so badly want this to be on the order of a 45-7 type beatdown... but until I see otherwise, I expect more of the same as what we've had the last couple years.

Two thoughts:

Either ISU wins big because it's the first game (dropped season tickets) that I've missed in 20 years or ISU losses because having two things(SEZ) to celebrate about at ISU seems to be impossible.

UNI punts to ISU and downs the ball at the 7 yard line. We go into shotgun but not having Farniok snap it, the ball goes over Sam's head and UNI gets an early TD.

Halftime 20-10 UNI.

ISU comes out strong and snags the lead early in 4th, 24-20.

UNI has to go for it on 4th down late in the game but can't convert, and ISU holds on.

If UNI is truly going no huddle I actually see this as an advantage for ISU. In the past this game has flown by clock wise as UNI has controlled the game with a slow methodical run game and huddling. It's half time in blink of an eye usually. This year if UNI has gone no huddle I see a much longer game and ISU has many more offensive possessions than usual. I also see UNI offense struggling a bit with a fairly new Oline and possibly more penalties to start the game. I feel it's a game where field possession favors ISU and we score on shorter fields. ISU plus 3 in TO margin.

ISU 27 UNI 23. Postgame reactions on this site include one new Fire Rhoads thread, one overly optimistic can we win the Big 12 poll, one Joel Lanning should start over Sam thread, one Sam for Heisman thread, and one thread dedicated to ******** about the corners giving up too much cushion to opposing receivers. And of course, a GTO poll.

This is a tough one to call because I am not too sure about what UNI has after losing Johnson. They also lost a couple good defenders and the QB position isn't settled. But they always seem to play tough and be fundamentally sound so while I think ISU will win fairly easily, by 14, it will be hard fought and seem closer than it is.

21-20 ISU.

ISU executes a final 2-minute drive for a TD after converting 2 4th downs. Richardson takes it in himself.

UNI gets the ball back with 30s left, miraculously gets within field goal range but misses a 45 yarder wide left as the clock expires.

Clones come out excited firing on all cylinders in the new stadium. Up 14-0 until UNI returns a punt for a touchdown at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. All momentum is lost and the teams are tied at half.

Defensive stalemate through most of the 2nd half amidst mounting injuries at key positions. UNI engineers game winning drive with two minutes left to win 21-17.

UNI has a first team All-American Kicker. I don't think you want that scenario....

I think the Cyclones have the mental aspect of the game down for this year and particularly the opening game. Cyclones crush UNI.
