They have us as a number 4 in Hartford. Playing #13 Northeastern and likely playing # 5 Villanova in the second game. Which would basically be a home game for both of them

Sounds about right...

I don’t know if I like a Villanova matchup or not. I don’t know much about this year’s team, but Jay Wright is a fantastic coach and his teams are usually super fast and can shoot lights out from deep.

I've seen a couple of the "experts" today say the team they wouldn't want to get matched up with is New Mexico St.

They said the same thing about Nevada the year we throttled them.

This team, more than probably any recent ISU - I don't really care where they end up. With the exception of Duke, I think they can stay with anyone if they play like they did in this tournament.

At the same time, they recently got waxed by a WVU team that isn't any better than most 12 or lower seeds.

This team's destiny will be determined by them more than the location or team they play.

Katz has us paired up against Oregon after their win last night. No thank you. They are the one PAC12 team really playing well right now.

While I don't think it is likely, a 4 seed should be also under consideration.

NBCSports just posted their latest bracket and Has Iowa State as 4. My guess ISU ends up as a 5 tonight but I do think the national media has a lot of respect for ISU and their potential. Possible the committee will see it the same way.
Very interested to see how the NET results factor in. ISU currently #21, KU is #20 for instance. ISU has beaten them twice obviously. Does the head to head move ISU above KU on the seeds?

5) VILLANOVA
12) LIBERTY
4) IOWA STATE
13) NORTHEASTERN

The Big 12 is fairly unusual in that there really wasn’t a dominant team. I’m wondering if giving ISU, KU, KSU and TT all 4 seeds wouldn’t make some sense given the overall quality of the league.

That'd really be something.

I think most agree that we now hover over a 5/6 seed line. Now, what opponent? A Murray State draw would be an appealing story line. What do ya think?

It’s important to remember how much the NCAA tries to create storylines with the bracket. There always seems to be a big rematch between blue bloods. They’re a business so it’s important not to count that out. They always try to get the highest ratings possible.

my girlfriend just informed me she has never filled out a bracket before. In fact, she had no idea the tournament even existed. How do you go 23 years without ever hearing about this??

She will probably win our bracket pool

So many questions.
First, how does one go that long without hearing about it?
Second, WTH you doing not informing her before now?
Third, how hot is she that you can put up with her lack of awareness in this area?

There are no good 2nd round matchups. Everybody is ******* good by that point.
Sure, but aren't we worried about multiple bigs on the floor at one time? They have two kids they play at the post. Would be advantage for them against MJ. Not saying they wouldn't/couldn't beat Houston, just commenting on the bracket that had ISU playing them in the second round.

Goddamnit. Why didn't someone think of this when it could be used by the crowd at the end of a game against them?
Back in my college days the rock chalk parody chant I wanted to get going was “Go home Jayhawks, **** you.”

Looking at it in my slightly older perspective it may not be a good look to have an entire arena chanting **** you to an opponent.

But it sure would be satisfying.

I'm guessing most people would be upset with this.

Some things I noticed.

There's a slight chance Iowa St. gets the Kansas City path. I have ISU and Kansas St. as 5 seeds with Kansas St. getting the KC path but Iowa St. could get that draw.

Kansas will likely be one of the better 4 seeds. This increases the chances Iowa St. gets put in Duke's or Virginia's bracket due to the committee trying to balance the top 16 teams. This also decreases Iowa St. chances at Kansas City.

Most likely cities: San Jose, Salt Lake City, and Hartford if ISU gets a 5.
Jacksonville or Tulsa if ISU gets a 6.
Des Moines could happen but will need to drop to a 6 seed. It's more likely they get the Kansas City Sweet 16 path than 1st-2nd rounds in Des Moines.

I had ISU as the last 5 seed.

Iowa:
I have Iowa slipping farther to a 10 seed. The main reason was their non-con schedule is almost in the 300's. I have a feeling the committee will punish teams that scheduled weak in the non-conference more than people think. Iowa had 1 Q1 game (H vs. Iowa St.) and 2 Q2 games (N. vs UCONN and N. vs Oregon). Iowa St. was pretty similar with 3 games against Q1 and Q2 teams. The big difference is Iowa filled the rest of their non-con with teams in the 220-330 range.

Iowa St. had Missouri, San Diego St., Illinois, and Drake help boost theirs. ISU's non-con SOS isn't great as it's in the low 100's. If ISU gets a 6 instead of a 5, I think this would be the biggest reason as the other 3 of Auburn, Marquette, and Villanova had non-con SOS way higher. ISU SOS is ~20 so the Big 12 helped a bunch.

I have Houston ahead of Michigan though I don't think the committee goes this way. I posted an image of the teams up for debate for 5 seeds. 4 of them will get them, the other 2 won't. (Auburn has 24 wins instead of 23)

Excellent roundup, $.

I also put Houston as a 2 ahead of U-M, agree the committee probably won't go that route. If Michigan beats MSU today, for sure it'll be switched.

I haven't looked too deeply into regional placements --- this is first year in a while I didn't do full bracketing during the season.

The good thing about being a four or five seed is we probably have a more winnable game in the second outing and a longer break between games to prepare for the one seed. As a six seed it is a short turn around to meet a one seed. Irregardless where and when, the clones need to beat the team in front of them. It's always "win or go home".

Isn’t only way we face Oregon is if we are a 6 seed? Oregon can’t be a 12 seed can they? I thought 12-13 seeds are for mid major champs or mid major tourney champs?
