***Official portal tracker thread***

Maybe deserves its own thread, but do we have any contracts maturing or ones needing revisited? $50 million deal for naming their field. I hope ours is close to as lucrative as that.

Getting increased enrollment seems great, but swapping out of state students vs in state just to get more & does not feel right. Wonder if CyTown will draw possible "naming rights" or other types of income possibilities (other than the more obvious ones).

My sister was a professor at Radford University in Virginia, located about 20 miles from Virginia Tech. Back in the day when Virginia Tech was a top 10 team, my sister noted enrollment went way up for Virginia
Tech and had a spillover effect for her university as well.

Our naming rights deal with MidAmerican is for $1.5m per year for 10 years (was announced in 2018). Indiana's deal is for $2.5m per year for 20 years.

Any truth to 20+ portal visitors for Saturdays basketball game? Sounds like this thread could blow up this weekend.
I don't claim to know a number, but that'd seem correct. We've still got many spots to fill, so I imagine the goal is to get as much as possible committed and enrolled ASAP so we've got a full-ish roster for spring ball.

With there only being 1 portal window this year for i think the first time, i would be shocked if they didnt have full rosters by spring

From the article, "Indiana's Fall 2025 class had a median high school GPA of 3.94"

Grade inflation at all levels is just insane these days. You know the average student was supposed to get a C. Over time grades have become completely meaningless. Everyone gets an A. When the number of athletes on the dean's list was bragged on, I checked out how many were on the dean's list at ISU. Over 10,000. So just about a third. Tried to compare that to past decades but couldn't find any data.

Xavier Townsend has visits with Florida State, Notre Dame, Purdue and Missouri.
He was at the Purdue basketball game last night.

Seemed like he wasn’t used correctly here? Just an opinion.

With those type of players you have a handful of plays to get him the ball quickly with a chance to grab explosive chunk plays.

Certainly needs more of a spread.

High school GPAs are an even bigger joke. Throw in AP/Honors classes and you get lots of kids of weighted GPAs over 4.0 and pushing 5.0 if they are straight A students.

GPA is a meaningless number indeed.

Agree. If they're the right talent at the right price I think you have to take them back given the overall circumstances. Maybe this is different a year or two down the line, but think you have to be pragmatic right now if you're Rogers (or any other coach is similar situation).
Put a giant chip on their shoulder. "Matt Campbell didn't want you to follow him. Matt Campbell didn't think you were good enough"

Not only that, but graduation rates. I used to teach at a school that vocally boasts a 98% graduation rate. They push everyone through, regardless of grades, regardless of work completion. It's almost impossible to NOT graduate.

Oh certainly. A lot of schools use weighted GPA. So and A in "normal" classes is 4.0 like always, but an A in say an AP course is worth a 5.0.
My kids take a bunch of college classes and still goes with 4.0. My last one is around a 3.96 and has 2 girls infront of him (he’s 5th in his class) who are taking very remedial type classes. Seems backwards when they will bump him for some local scholarships because he took college math and they finished out at math for every day.

I wouldn't say "a lot" anymore. We have 75 confirmed players now. Need only 10 to get to 85. Because of Title IX stuff, we likely aren't going to get much more than 85.

Same happened to our son 10 years ago. He took AP calculus, physics, and Chemistry among others and the girl that finished ahead of him as valedictorian took as you said remedial classes. He kind of gets the last laugh, he got his Aerospace degree from ISU and she went premed at Iowa and dropped out. His AP classes were on a 4.0 scale.

It would be fascinating to know what their remaining budget is. I'm guessing that they might have saved a little chunk for a couple big targets
