***Official portal tracker thread***

Maybe deserves its own thread, but do we have any contracts maturing or ones needing revisited? $50 million deal for naming their field. I hope ours is close to as lucrative as that.

Getting increased enrollment seems great, but swapping out of state students vs in state just to get more & does not feel right. Wonder if CyTown will draw possible "naming rights" or other types of income possibilities (other than the more obvious ones).

Does anyone think Rogers would take back anyone that entered the portal and doesn't find a place? I would think that most coaches wouldn't give you a second chance, especially if you were not going to be a starter. I read somewhere that a pretty good percentage of portal guys get left out in the cold.

"Get left out in the cold" is a funny way of saying they got bad info from their agent and have to go down a level

Yes.

Only If they are going to contribute on the field. Then yes. And maybe they get less $?

In this landscape, it’s every man for themselves. It’s also not like their HC didn’t leave them out to dry.

Plus they will always be motivated to perform to maybe cash in next year again?

I think this has been acknowledged here before…. Likely where that bozo miller picked it up . Seems like a plausible scenario….
And all other noise about the other “ candidates “ was just distraction
Got a couple of other coaches at Nebby and BYU some huge raises if they were just distractions

Yeah but out of state students is where the real money is. Boise St. had a nice bump in enrollment after their bowl win over OU back in the day, mostly out of state kids.

Campbell seemed to pretty much throw people off the ledge forever, but I wouldn't be surprised to see coaches out there who tell the kids "fine, go let the market tell you what you're worth and let me know what you find out". You could certainly take that approach early on when you know you need many bodies in short time.

If he thought they could help the team most likely.

Agree. If they're the right talent at the right price I think you have to take them back given the overall circumstances. Maybe this is different a year or two down the line, but think you have to be pragmatic right now if you're Rogers (or any other coach is similar situation).

Its a business now. Its somewhat similar to a NFL guy testing the free agent waters and nothing personal.

There's also a chance they entered the portal because Rogers didn't think they fit our schemes. They may not have had a choice.

On Cyclones.com, the 2026 roster shows no players yet. But it lists 41 people under the Coaching Staff. How did all that come together so quickly? I think there might be a couple who stayed on from before. But I guess a lot of these came from WSU? I just can't imagine all that has had to happen in 30 days and it has already happened. Not just the staff but then getting together all these players to want to come to ISU. I'm just astounded how quickly we have gone from having a head coach and 2 players to where we are today.
