***Official portal tracker thread***

Sorry I'm sure this has been covered before but I've never understood the 30m psu gets for their football roster? I thought the 20m Rev sharing was standard and has to be split in all sports?

Jamies interview made it sound like anything beyond Rev sharing is business dealings, and not like a sukup or similar could just add another 10m annually to football. This whole thing is just so confusing to me.
I think that is what Jamie and other schools were told during the House Settlement process. Along with Congress fixing things.

But the schools with a lot of booster money soon realized, socialism sucks and why not press their financial strength by creating in-house collectives to pay athletes "NIL" above and beyond House Settlement monies.

Sky must be falling in Iowa, we got a beautiful bluebird sky in Colorado!

He's going to be 1 of 60 portal kids we sign. And we'll need somewhere between 15-20 OL kids on the roster. Just a piece of the puzzle.
This is the thing, a lot of people I have heard have said the same thing, about being underwhelmed etc. because of who is either coming or visiting and considering coming.

We have to fill a ton of our roster, including 2nd and 3rd string players. Not everyone we get is going to be a 1st sting player, not everyone we get is going to demand top dollar, some are going to be backups, some are going to be a development player that may build to a starting role in the future. Etc.

A football team has about 25 starters give or take depending on how you count ST players etc. We are going to need to pick up 3 times that many players to fill out our roster, so some of the guys we get might be a little underwhelming in the grand scheme, but they are no different than our 3rd string players that were here and decided to leave.

I was wondering this too as well as Cooper Alexander, David Coffey, BJ Carter, and LaMarcus Hick II. Is no news good news?
It's kind of curious. Wonder if they are letting the chaos settle down. They have until the 16th to enter portal.

So let their agents see if they have portal value after the big names sign. I'm sure they know what CJR is offering.

IMO Coach Rogers is going for the undervalued talent to bring in a large number of transfers and recruits. We are employing a defense and an offense that is capable of production and an attacking philosophy. Moberly is our future QB while Raynor will be a complete pain in the ass for opposing teams next year. New stars will replace the old stars. We will be fine.
Brewers never keep their stars. But they’re always bring in youngsters who can play, and the team is always competitive. Damn it…..

3rd best offensive lineman on a 3-9 team. Played RT. Asked to leave by the new staff after year one because there was absolutely no buy in from him.

If he plays meaningful snaps, it's going to be a long year.
In his defense Stepsis kinda sucks as a coach.

Now that's a thought instead of paying for a 100 kids just pay for 70 instead. If you're a player you should like this because it ups your opportunity for playing time. Save the A.D. 30 players worth of salary.
I wouldn't object to trying it for a year.
I would guess this is already happening. Top players get paid and rest of team maybe gets an allowance.

It will be interesting to see how TT gets around the salary cap. The cap went into effect July 1, so I believe many of these deals for the current football and basketball season were paid before that.
There is no cap. Schools already decided it was a hindrance to being the best version of themselves.

Right. “We are just better at evaluating players than other programs.” It’s the same thing fans say when their team lands a recruiting class full of lightly recruited players.

Sometimes it works out. Most often it does not. That’s because you have dozens of football programs evaluating these transfers/recruits and the other coaches are paid well to know what they are doing too.

We will always be digging for diamonds of course. To be successful, we’ll have to mix that with ponying up and paying some players what they are worth.
We're going to pay guys what their worth this year. We just aren't going after top tier players and pay what their worth.

CJR just has to get players whose production is close to elite players and team concept, coaching and other intangibles make up the difference.

Not a P4 guy so some people will be mad. I like it though.
I doubt we see more than a few P4 guys transfer in. It's not about getting lateral moves, we want the stock rising guys
Most of the guys they get won't be P4 guys.
Facts. And it's not some "taking them just to take them" to fill a roster either. OU wanted our OT.
It was discussed last night, but I like seeing guys that have other P4 offers, even coming from a lower level. Versus the guys who were at P4 but leaving or dropping down.
This is the most important, who is offering them?

If their offers were all FCS or G5, well, gotta hope they were a diamond in the rough or ISU snuck in without a P4 finding about a hidden stud.

Most likely, other P4 schools will want these rising G5 players in the portal, but ISU will be able to offer starting PT and/or better NIL than some (not all) of the P4s we're competing against.

I'm good with guys that have a ton of reps at a non-P4 level vs a guy that couldn't cut it at a different P4 school and transfers. We aren't going to be in the market for too many P4 contributors that are transferring
