Uh, no. That is just stupid.
It's probably a reality. Whether it's a gambling tax where proceeds go to 3 state schools. Or incremental sales tax, hotel/restaurant tax, etc.

And the Iowa States new President is going to need to provide direction on if increasing student fees/tuition are part of revenue gap solution.

And then Jamie needs to decide what Cytown development structure maximizes cash flow, more Luke Combs type concerts, do we sell beer to general fans, increase Cyclone Club donation tiers, increase ticket prices and can he cut administrative overhead.

Obviously a sugar daddy would be great, but more likely it's going to be a number things needed to raise $25M+ annually.

The ROI benefits the school and the school alone. Not the people footing the bill. That’s not how ROI should work.
Nah, it is the equivalent of opening a multimillion dollar restaurant. The return is getting to walk through the kitchen to your reserved private room to show off to acquaintances.

Iowa State football games generate a TON of revenue. Basketball less so but not insignificant. If Iowa State sucks, taxpayers will end up paying for it anyway.
Put a $60 million dollar "athletics funding bill" in the state legislature and see how far it gets. I love Iowa State but lets get real here

Most of the guys they get won't be P4 guys.
Yeah, really no different than under CMC. We get our transfers from Juco, smaller schools.

The thing is, we had elevated our program with those kinds of guys, plus high school recruits, to being in the top 2 or 3 of the conference. Then the big money came in to TTU and BYU, maybe others soon. Then our coaching staff left. So where are we now? Starting all over again from the bottom? We don't really know. But JFR must feel he can turn this around fast, I guess we just have to hope he is right. I guess we trust what he is doing as long as we can. So I'm going to say if he wants a player, then so do I!!!

Until MC’s departure, we were in the golden era of Cyclone athletics. As a CC and WW donor, I felt like I got a good “return” on my “investment” in the AD. It’s been a hell of a fun ride!
