I didn't like the hire at the time and still don't. He can definitely prove me wrong and I'll support the program no matter what. The guy just doesn't seem very well liked. With his posting history, he thinks we are going to have players playing both sides because we will only have 50 players and most will come from Dordt.
I don't believe those numbers. I don't believe we'd have to give Jalen Travis big money in the portal. I don't believe we'll have to give Braden Smith or Maasai King big money but that doesn't mean they can't block. Simple economics says there is a glut of players(supply) and a fairly static demand. It would be a very fun exercise to see what kind of team everyone would put together with $13-$14 million in today's era. Just assuming the numbers that 247 put out about the average cost for all the positions.
Like I said in another post.... just a halfway decent starting offensive line will be a minimum of $3 million I'd guess. Same for a starting defensive line with 4 down linemen probably. So just a starting OL and DL would almost use up half your money.
Everyone loves to say... why wouldn't we pay X player $2 million?? Like Sama for example... many reports say he was getting over a million here, and was one of our more expensive players. Is a RB even worth that.... especially one with Sama's abilities? These are the tough questions Rogers has to deal with folks.
whaaa?I didn't like the hire at the time and still don't. He can definitely prove me wrong and I'll support the program no matter what. The guy just doesn't seem very well liked.

Eck should've been his second call after Scheelhaase.whaaa?
if you were AD, who would you have hired?

What's your biggest cause for optimism? You know the feeling?
Other than Heacock(cause he's a legend) and maybe Clanton, we have a better staff now than we did on December 3.What's your biggest cause for optimism?
If we could only be so lucky. They finished 10-1. I'm sure they'll be too expensive though. With his posting history, he thinks we are going to have players playing both sides because we will only have 50 players and most will come from Dordt.
Why not?No way Manske is pulling $2 mil.
The guy just doesn't seem very well liked.
In passing. I don't think he's a bad guy at all and it wasn't the sense that I got. Just not very talkative and a no nonsense demeanor. I just think that type of coach is going to have troubles in this college football landscape.
I'm an unabashed Campbell supporter. I get that rubs people on here the wrong way. What he did here in his 10 years is incredible. I've been around the AD department and can say with no doubt in my mind that any incoming staff will not be as competent and prepared as Campbells. There is no next level to take the program. He won us a Fiesta Bowl for God sakes. To sit on here and hype up the next coach is fine. Just understand the reality that something special walked out the door.Other than Heacock(cause he's a legend) and maybe Clanton, we have a better staff now than we did on December 3.
