***Official portal tracker thread***

The other DE was a commit. He decommitted but seems to be available yet. Iowa Western had a DT that signed with KSU but he’s back on the market too. Maybe we can get all three. Iowa Western set the season sack record I believe.
The DT has gotten Auburn and Penn State offers yesterday according to Twitter. The DE got an offer yesterday from Missouri yesterday. Competition for both got rougher.

USC’s problem was more than just their offense. They gave up 500 total yards to Illinois. 12.3 yards per pass attempt and 172 rushing yards. Gave up 28 first half points to Oregon. Their first half defense was atrocious in the last six games. Only one sack the last six games. 48th best in FBS not that good. Campbell has a better handle on what it takes to make a good defense than Riley, that’s why I thought this an odd hire for Campbell.
Here’s a very good podcast. She is a top notch reporter and has covered USC for several years.

That’s probably why he hired him Kinch. The last 3 years Campbell’s team didn’t like to sack either.

CBS Sports put out an interesting article on how much money could be getting paid to transfer portal players. Curious to see if this ends up being correct.

I found this very interesting...Thanks.

It does raise a question for limited resource schools. Does it make sense to use a 3-3-5 defensive scheme to take advantage of a lower NIL cost for safeties/linebackers than defensive linemen and edge rushers.

I think it makes the most sense to recruit, develop and then spend money to retain your guys, and use the balance of your money to fill holes from the portal.

Counterpoint: The blarge call.

Call it cardinal and gold glasses if you will, but the Cyclones were robbed of a national title in 2000 and anyone who failed to renounce affiliation with Michigan State after that debacle is a fundamentally defective human being.

No offense, @FriendlySpartan
Thats why I respect some of that guys posts but I don't really like him and dont see the point of him on this board.

We were absolutely robbed of a title in 2000. Can you imagine if any Big 10 team won their regular season, tournament titles, then had to play Iowa State in Des Moines or Kansas City. Total bs.
