I think Rocco will have a better starting point than Purdy did going into the NFL. He has a more lively arm & I feel will test better going through the camps for the draft, etc. His accuracy improved this season from last, but the numbers don't show it due to drops from WRs & also playing through injury.

Think he'll have the range between a Chase Daniel-type career & Drew Brees. Said the same thing about BP. Lot has to do with what organization he goes to, which BP lucked out immensely on. Hoping Rocco stays, ISU has a great season, and he ascends to the top of all QB records while getting drafted, sealing his legacy.
He also has the advantage of having a Dad who was a former NFL player also. He has the pedigree. Nobody knew about Brock other than ISU fans, and SF took a flyer on him in the draft. Rocco could have an average year and still end up on an NFL roster. If he has a good year hell be a UFDA. If he stays, and has a great year, all we will hear is how he broke all of Purdys records, and then youll start seeing him on draft boards in that 5th round potentially, IMO.

If he transfers, hell need to go somewhere that either can pay him 5th round NFL money, or he'll need to make sure he goes somewhere he can start.

I honestly dont know if PSU can provide that

Just considering things rationally, if Rocco has a path to the NFL he's going to have to be a starter to get there. Best option to do that is right here, unlikely to happen in Happy Valley. Although he can probably get paid elsewhere with a commitment to start, he's giving up the ISU record books and absolute permanent legend status in Ames to be a one year rental anywhere else. His level of comfort with the OC and QB coach will go a long way in getting him to stay I think.
In addition, Rocco's path to college football legend is at Iowa State. If he stays at Iowa State he will have the same celebration with his future son that Anthony had with Rocco at WVU- on the field at Jack Trice. As a father, the thought of getting to share something like this with my son gives me goose bumps.

Rocco's girlfriend goes to Florida, FWIW. And Florida, FSU, USF, and UCF will be looking for a new starting QB next year, as theirs are all transferring out

Rumors are Sorsby is going to Texas Tech (his girlfriend plays volleyball and just transferred to Tech) and Mestemaker will probably follow his coach to Oklahoma State

Why do you know so much about players' girlfriends?

It's all conjecture at this point, but I would expect Rocco to start at PSU if he goes there just because CMC knows him and trusts him. If the competition is close at all, then Rocco has that advantage.

As for ISU, as of now we have two known players, Roskop and this kid from Wazzu, Watkins. So, 2 down, 103 to go?
It’s a start :)

The cap and the clearinghouse will end up not meaning squat, the toothpaste is out of the tube, and if they try to limit it to $20 million NIL per school, they will immediately head to court to stop it. The only way to "solve" this problem is going to be to allow the players to form a union, and collective bargaining is set up to bring rules to the madness. Here is the amount of money each school can spend and the players will have to give up their rights on transfers. Say one mulligan and then the next one you have to sit out a year. Kids that sign with a school has to stay two years unless the coach leaves. For all the to occur it's going to take the government to get involved and anti trust protection to schools are going to have to be provided.

Schools with NIL will fight all of this, I do not blame them, this is going to take forever to figure out and the only thing that is going to spend it up, is if this super league forms and ground rules are set up for all schools before they sign on the dotted line.
Wait you think a player union would limit how much schools can spend? I don't think you know what unions are about.

I see what you're saying here. They, of course, are always going to push for more money for the players. That part is undeniable.

Where I think this gets more interesting/complicated is that it's not exactly like your typical union situation. They're not set up for a relatively small portion of their members to get paid a $hit ton of money while everyone else gets scraps by comparison. That is antithetical to what the big schools with big pockets want. There is also a difference between negotiating with universities and negotiating with companies with really deep pockets.

I also don't think it's like the players unions in pro sports for the simple reason that there are far more NCAA athletes. There are probably about 1700 players in the NFL. Estimates of D1 college football players is in the 20-30 range based on some cursory research.

I'm not saying it would work, but it's a different situation.

Only a union member for 35 years, but I guess I have no clue how they work or anything, so could you help me out?

The purpose of the union would be get collective bargaining put into place, thereby they could put limits on what a school can spend. I mean it only works in the NFL, MLB, NBA, and the NHL, but I guess it will not work with college athletes.

I think some of these qbs are in for a rude awakening like nico iamaleava was last year.

Some of them are going to get paid very well, most will be paid in 2-4 million range, and a very unfortunate few will be left without a chair when the music stops

Hopefully. A lot of these kids need to find out they aren't as worth as much as they think they are.

We’re talking about 15-20% of total revenue share of ALL athletes for a QB. Or 25-30% of football budget. That is just crazy.

How many proven QBs returning would it even be worth to consider spending that much money?
